The arachnaphobia filter just turns spiders in that game into increasingly terrifying flying death orbs when I last played it.
Thalassophobia. Time to remove bfa and the oceans
Yes. Please.
Goes double for Vashj’ir…
I guess now would be a good time to delve into arachnophobia to know what triggers it. Initial questions I have are: is it the legs, eyes, webs, behavior(s), location(s), movement, a combination, or all of the aforementioned?
So… you want Pyrovision?
Those the ones who give you that rot bite? Nah don’t have those around here. Still, I’d take that over some rat infection or snake venom.
Yeah, it can cause necrosis. I wouldn’t want any of the above.
It’s not like it took a day’s worth of work to code this filter.
Ion says in the interview that this was based on feedback at blizzcon and from their own team.
This is why it seems to people that inclusion is exclusion.
Afraid of spiders? We will change our game for you! You deserve to be accommodated you beautiful unique and perfect-in-all-your-flaws individual! This is how everyone should be treated!
Afraid of anything else? You’re on your own. We didn’t mean those flaws. If you’re afraid of sharks just don’t go where there are sharks, loser.
They don’t have any unpaid interns. CA law requires that they can’t have unpaid people doing the same work as paid staff. The Blizzard intern program is actually very cool. They pay for travel, housing, and salary for the duration of the summer program. It is a structured program with a lot of organized activities, networking, professional development, etc. Also a project they work on as part of their assigned team for those weeks.
I am not even afraid of spiders, but will probably do this! Crab people crab people…
Phobias are totally illogical fears that people can’t control. Spiders are one of the most common and people have asked for a filter for many many years. Kind of since WoW started. Glad they are adding an optional one. Quite a few games have that feature. Even House Flipper lets you turn the swarms of roaches into shards of glass instead. I turned that filter on for sure.
I am always happy when others get an accessibility option that will help them enjoy a game more.
let’s also add it to peoples lack of clothing too.
Can I get a setting that turns all Orcs into big fluffy bunnies?
Arachnophobia, irrational fear of spiders, is one of the most common specific phobias. Based on the literature, arachnophobia affects 2.7–6.1% of people in the general population
It’s not a surprise that they added it considering it’s one of the most common phobias in the world. It’s not like it effects you in any way.
You can just, I don’t know, not turn it on and forget the option is even there. You’re not being forced to use it.
Sure it does, because now others can play a way that they don’t want them to.
I have somnophobia, an irrational fear of falling asleep.
Pyrophobic, an irrational fear of fire and being burned alive
Nilliophobia, an irrational fear of nothing
idk…this seems like a targeted attack on players who suffer from kabourophobia. Lol.
It’s a good change I don’t understand all the hate.
Plus I’m not afraid of spiders but I’m turning them all into crabs because well… I think it would be fun.
There should be a bread mode too where all gore is replaces with bread / wheat bags like from the china client. Why? Cause bread is funny.
Idk what a fear of wasps is.
Apparently it’s spheksophobia I hate wasps I see a wasp I scream and run off. I can halfway deal with in game wasps (if there was a button to change them to bees I would be ok with that… I love little bees they so cute).
