Was wanting to make some instant cast abilities @target macro, is this doable?
If you’re talking about abilities with targeting circles, you can’t. The best you can do is @cursor which will instantly cast it at you mouse location.
Damn, is there a reason why not?
Or @player to turn all the AoE spells with targeting circles into discount consecrations.
Probably cause it’s cheating or something? i don’t know.
Danthon is only partially correct, it is doable and allowed and not considered cheating, but will not work for @target, only for @player and @cursor. the correct macro is:
This will cast it at your own feet.
/cast [@player] spell name
/use [@player] <trinket slot 13/14>
These will cast it at your cursor location
/cast [@cursor] spell name
/use [@cursor] <trinket slot 13/14>
Holy Necro Batman!
Can you build a macro to @player(tank)?
You can set your tank as your focus and do @focus. I’m not sure if it still works or not but you can try and cast at your tanks target by setting your tank as your focus and using the @assist (I’m not sure if it will work, you will need to test it)
As for the history behind why the targeting circles can’t be used with the @target, it is because of hunters and their freeze trap in arena’s. As soon as a hunter would throw a flare at a stealth opposing player, they were able to instant cast a freeze trap on said stealthy and instantly freeze them out of stealth. So now some hunters just use @player, and you will see them “poop” out a trap while running. You will see them kneel down from the trap animation, while still running at normal speed, so it looks like they are skidding on a knee.
So what you’re saying is that Blizzard is too lazy to disable it for PVP-instanced content and enable it for everything else.

I love how this thread has been chain necro’d like 4 times
Today is the last time it will be for me.
and yet still gives relevant information. if not for this thread i’d never know i have to spend a talent point to give an ability the functionality i think it should have baseline… instead of a simple macro.
I’m bringing this into the new year with me since I do still find it bonkers.
One of things I like about AOE abilities in Swtor. It’s built in by default. You can press keybind once to use the targeting circle and place the AOE where you want or you can double press the keybind and it will cast the AOE directly on your current target.
GW2 does the same thing I think. Double press will fire it at your mouse cursor.
Swtor is bit different, single press and you can choose to set where you want with the mouse and then click. Double press auto casts it directly on your current target regardless of where your cursor is at.
Chain necro’ 5 times and counting x’D
I feel like they should all work like druid starfall and get rid of the ground targets
Gotta keep it going. Rather see a single thread on a specific topic vs multiple threads on a single topic.
