AOE CAP is Gamebreaking

That makes a ton of sense.

Lmao, patch 7.3.5 introduced

  • Increased health AND damage from all mobs for 300% “because mobs were getting oneshotted since we got the artifact powerspike”, they had then to remove the damage buff and just leave the health buff because casuals were dying to leveling trash, directly increasing the time you took to kill mobs x3, and this reflected on the entire game, because they were working on scaling the content.

Then the actual scaling came in, scaling + health buff made mobs x10 LONGER to kill, and the discussion of the forums at the time was to make the game more “difficult” and people didn’t understand the difference between killing a trashmob in 5 secs instead of 1 min, its not harder it just takes more time, a boring experience, it took the action from most combat.

It’s not like dungeon or raid bosses, notable trash on dungeons or raids or Mage Tower, i completed all of them yeah 36/36, so i can tell that killing trash and wasting your own time is not challenging. virtually making x3 times the time to level up for arbitrary reasons is not fun. the debate continued with the boost promos making blizz look like a cashwh0re that just wanted people to buy boost bc leveling was broken.

Also forgot to mention that scaling nerfed players on lower levels, it was so long and boring that they had to make some nerfes to mobs and buff the experience gain because people were taking so long that just left the game.

THEN THE STAT SQUISH ON TO THIS, just make everything even worse.

Then the removal of artifact and GCD changes on, the game was completely broken and unplayable, and thats why i left, until the corruption powerspike came and the game became balanced again, the stat squish was supposed to last for more than 2 expansions, but they had to break it to buff the player numerically enough to deal with the pithole that was made on top of those systems overhauls.

BFA’s version of WoW entirety wasnt “better than it’s ever been” take your rose tinted glasses and be critical bc those changes and just like this ones are stupid experiments that just get the playerbase away from the game, and it made me and all my friends away from the game until the last patch of the xpac.

Great post and you have showcased why you are a valued member of the WoW community.

Yes leveling became broken with the 7.3.5 changes and now they are presenting the fix in systemlands. Meanwhile nerfing heirlooms for many veteran WoW players.

The AoE cap is just another blunder of many blunders that has driven the game to huge step backs from the golden age of WoW.

When this hits the live servers you will see the majority of complaints with the AoE cap from players playing older content or even transmog hunters.

Just because they don’t do endgame or M+ doesn’t mean their sub money is worth less.

But it is a great sadness to see WoW to be dragged down by sloppy work. Lets call a spade for a spade and that is the AoE cap is very sloppy work. :+1: :100:

This was funny from a “what the hell were they thinking” standpoint though.

They also blamed us for not finding it on the PTR prior to sending it live. Oh, sorry people weren’t leveling characters in your .3.5 patch to test leveling changes that you didn’t say were on the PTR.

whats worse is they actually did, and gave feedback about it, they just didnt care.

your warlock wont get in your class has an aoe cap. Welcome to classes without a cap taking charge of the meta so unless you are a Unholy dk, rogue, feral druid or dh dont expect an inv as you have a cap and these classes do not so gameplay for them is not affected

Malefic rupture has an AoE cap? Is that new since yesterday?

Cleave classes won’t be excluded, but classes that only cleave no longer will, either. It’s a great change, overall.

I actually do remember seeing one thread about it without much traffic. The CM response though was something like “if you didn’t like it, you should have told us in testing. We assumed you didn’t mind because you guys didn’t say anything.” Just a preview for BfA beta feedback I guess.

It has a dimishing effect cap meaning more targets the less it hits. And on beta when we are doing 10-15 pushes we are only taking the classes that are not aoe capped as the others just can’t keep up. Its a change that sounds good on paper but doesn’t actually work. Feel free to come watch us on the beta if you don’t believe

Ironically the original devs actually did care about cleave vs aoe and had very little burst in the game at all.

And most classes didn’t have aoe at all.

It was the “new” devs that started multiple expacs later that handed massive aoe out to everyone.

I find it funny they’re trying to destroy their most popular mode with their idiotic changes.

They also thought the GCD change was good. Also the state the game systems (e.g. azerite) were in when the expansion shipped. Also the way 8.3 visions were balanced when they shipped.

theyre doing it to save on servers and get more money for themselves, don’t be fooled

its not about fun or not fun , in this case, pretty sure.

*would be ironic if it ended up losing them money ; but they know whoever’s still playing is addicted anyways. The drug dealer mentality ; “who cares, youll be back like the other junkies.”

is not going to break the game usually packs are around 3 to 8 mobs depending the dungeons, but the cap at 5 is a little ridiculous, i do think 8 as a cap is an acceptable number.

this wont affect normal players since most of the run at lvl 15 players were doing one maybe to packs at the time.

You didn’t have to necro this one

There was nothing wrong about pulling how much ever you want.

It gave the players choices about whether they were good enough to handle more.

So yeah it is gamebreaking and a fix which is not needed

It’s cuz u aren’t doing keys high enough where packs live long enough.

Casters excel at highier keys. Fire mage is meta for a reason

Yes part of why I like RPGs is when I come to the point of having outgeared places and just go berserk on the entire place I used to die at.

Growing stronger, learning and getting better is a big part of the experience; Both in Game and IRL.

This.

I have no idea why people are defending a poor decision made just to hide the fact that they are lazier in balancing specs after minting money in WoW

They had all this.

Players were just good enough to handle huge packs while kicking / stoping / CCing / focusing prio target / kiting

All at same time.

So they artificially try to stop uswithaoe cap.
