I collect MTG, still wouldn’t care.
I had the ZG tiger before the BMAH, you couldn’t pay me to care that it’s now on the BMAH.

False. Every ret paladin had Ashbringer. Ashbringer was still cool. Everyone got the Warlord’s Deathwheel. It was still cool. Rarity does not make things cooler for everyone. It certainly doesn’t make things cooler as far as I am concerned.
I have all sorts of rare pets and mounts. Check my collection if you are so inclined.
I would not be the least bit upset if everyone in WoW was able to do quests to get all my rarest mounts. I don’t like how difficult they were to obtain, and I would be happy for everyone if they became easier to obtain in the future.
This is not an argument you can win by getting us to look at things from a different angle. This is a fundamental disagreement. You came here wanting to be exceptional. I came here wanting everyone to have fun.
I do, but I got it because I thought it looked cool, not because I wanted bragging rights. If they restarted production for some of my “rare” stuff, I’d be totally fine with that. I have it because I think it’s cool, not because others don’t have it.
fomo is a scummy marketing tactic, and it irks me that people fall for it and even defend it.
Weird how I can like my mage tower skins and like them even if everyone else has them. It’s almost like someone else having it doesn’t actually reduce how much I like them.
Exactly, who even cares about that tbh. I have a ton of Pandaria CM and tbh they just collect dust. Why would I be bothered if someone else had them?
I think it takes a very sad and depressed person to cling to something like that. Perhaps that’s the best thing their own life has to offer.
Sure then stop whining about wanting them. Read the forum. People making the posts are mostly the ones who want the skins back.
You are welcome to point out where I have ever whined about wanting the Mage Tower skins.
Keep the salt coming……
Mage tower, challenge sets, ahead of the curve mounts, pvp skins/mounts, promotionals……
They all get announced with a complete by date when the game is current.
End of story… so sick of hearing everyone just complain for the sake of complaining.
Move on.
this, 100%
Anyone whining against just re-releasing all the skins sounds like a little kid going:
“NO, MY LEGOS! STAY AWAY THEY’RE MINE”
Blizzard’s words really doesn’t hold much weight these days. Would it surprise you if they brought it back if it meant they thought they could get more subs out of it?
Do you know how much time i put into getting pathfinder in Warlords of Draenor? The hours and hours spent trying to find 100 of those damned treasures, building reputations I could care less about, exploring places id probably never set foot in again? I put in the time and was justly rewarded with flight in WoD.
And now some putz can just get it for practically FREE?
Gaaaah!!
False Panda rage intensifies
no actually im okay with this.
This feature was never advertised as exclusive or “will end after expansion”… this is not the same… people can work on this at their leisure prior to the change
At this point, yes. They are bringing back the Mage Tower with new rewards. If they intended to bring back the old appearances, they would have for the upcoming Legion Timewalking.
In general, no. But it would piss a lot of people who grinding really hard to get limited appearances that they were told would be going away.
I was only able to get the daggers on my Rogue and nothing else. They don’t even look that great, and I’d rather use other appearances. I wanted to get the Demon Hunter glaives as well, especially the pink ones. Despite all that, I do not want to see them return.
It really, really wouldn’t bother me. If I have something that looks cool, someone else having that thing doesn’t make it less cool.
Artificial scarcity is an old trick designed to provide you with a false sense of achievement, and is amazingly anti-consumer (despite being annoyingly effective). I’d make a joke about the PS5 and new Nvidia GPU’s, but I can’t think of a good one.
But you are comparing apples to chickens here.
No, we do. We just don’t think that timed exclusivity is a good way to go about it, especially where druid forms are concerned. For us, it’s like making an allied race a timed exclusive.
Weapons? Sure.
Druid forms? Not so much.
People should consider themselves lucky that they get a form to get the druid warebear at all.
And in the actual form and not just a garbage dumbed down version like legion order hall sets.
Listen I’m not saying it was a good idea to lock the best looking druid form behind a limited time challenge. I would say druid is the exception and it sucks you’re right.
people would be up in arms if they bring back AotC mounts during timewalking that’s for sure
I agree 100%…
The only legitimate ask is for blizz to add a new tint per spec that will not give you the original tints…
New stuff for current game is a win for everyone.
Yeah, so comparing this to real world just makes this MT situation look even worse.
In the real world, if I want a time-limited item, I can get it with the right amount of money even if it’s no longer being made, sold by the original source, etc.
In WoW, we have the BMAH which sort of does the same thing, but I can’t walk up to someone and say “Hey can I buy your mog for 8 million gold” because mogs aren’t currently sellable.
To recap, in the real world, if I want something time-sensitive, I can get it with the right amount of cash, but in WoW, I can’t do that unless that specific item finds its way into the BMAH rotation.
The Mage tower skins are digital goods. Ergo any scarcity is forced because a digital item - pure data - can be replicated an infinite amount of times at functionally zero cost. And no, I wouldn’t care if a new fan to something I’ve been a long time fan of - lets use Evangelion as an example - can now get something that once upon a time was rare and I was lucky to have. Because that item in the hands of a new fan means someone else can now feel the joy I felt long ago when I got mine and is now an experience we can share to bridge the gap between the Old Guard and the new fresh fandom blood. And that’s worth more to me than any sense of exclusivity,
I don’t mind old players feeling proud of their Mage Tower achievements; what I do mind is players treating the gaining of that skin as if it was the same as attaining a Shodan rank or something.
