Anyone kinda worried that Evoker is just Shaman 2.0?

I know it doesn’t have a melee spec, but dps spell caster and healer, both with group buffs? And let’s be real, their dps is going to blow Shaman out of the water. Not to mention, they obviously have great mobility too.

Not a chance brother. The Elements and the way of the Shaman are embedded into the very core of Warcraft itself. We even have Green Jesus on our side.

Shamans ain’t going nowhere.

No, not at all. Blizzard seems to have gone the route of 2 specs for new classes now. The major draw back is being forced into 1 roll or the other if there is under performance. In theory, Blizzard has to keep these classes performing since there’s only 2 choices.

I mean, I know shaman aren’t actually going anywhere. And maybe there will be more to it, but at a glance, Evoker just looks like a Ele/Resto Shaman with better damage and more mobility. We’ll see though.

QUIET YOU!

That’s the trick though. We’ve only gotten a glance so far.

What I saw was a little different, being more of a ranged Frost DK with the ability to BE the dragon they summon to fly over enemies.

I didn’t even get a sense of what they healing spec would be like. Druid or Shaman like? Something entirely new? Don’t know really.

I think mages should be more worried. This is basically a mage with healing spec imo.

Rerolling evoker instantly.

They’re going to be overpowered as heck and I am here for it. I hope the damage profile is fun but any way it plays will blow elemental out of the water.

Well based off this comment The Dracthyr are an intellect class for both specializations. As for weapons (subject to change), similar to what Shamans can use - but with the addition of swords and removal of shields. yeah they are atleast weapon wise shaman’s 2.0.

Just read that interview and immediately thought “Yep, Shaman 2.0”.

nope not even close no melee.

Melee aside, of course.

Shaman is the class the devs use to test cool abilities for other specs.

Evoker is shaman 2.0 featuring arcane mage with an appearance by druid. I am not really a fan of what they have shown so far.

I can only hope that the core gameplay changes that I am assuming are coming with the talent overhaul will breathe some new life into the other specs.

Drag’thyr look like someone colored Jar Jar with highlighters and drew some wings on. (Exaggerated, yes but this was the first impression I got of them.)

To me it seems more likely to step on the toes of like, specifically mage.

They were pumping a bunch of time and bronze time stuff into arcane, and now that that’s an evoker thing, will they be removing and replacing those?

I’d have preferred they gave us Bard, Mechanic, or any number of other things people have been asking for.

The entire class idea seems kinda tone deaf.

People have been spamming forums for years wanting more race/class diversity and when DH came out, one of its biggest criticisms was that it was only available on one race in each faction. People understood with DH though as it had a strongly defined identity for years.

Evokers just seems like they needed a new class to market the expansion with but they didn’t want to put in the work to implement it so they went with one race only.

Blizzard is lazy is the only thing I can think of as to why they keep doing stupid decision after stupid decision.

Evoker is gonna be way different than shaman. Although I think they have to revamp maelstrom if they are going to keep people as elemental as it’s quite clunky and unfun compared to the rest of the casters in the game.

I don’t think so. Time Magic exists in other forms and there aren’t any abilities that specifically belonged to Mage. Death Coil and stuff like that belonged to other Hero classes first.

If I wanted any type of dragon person class I also feel like I’d have wanted more of something closer to Death Knight with elemental damage and breath attacks also.

We got a mage which to me is weird, because this isn’t a fantasy that can only be filled by a “dragon” at the end of the day a lot of what evoker does is kind of already done by other casters.

A melee class with elemental breath attacks and tail swipes is what I would have wanted but that’s just me.
