A dragon knight sounds really cool. Probably the main reason that evoker is a ranged dps is that every other class that’s been added since launch has been a melee dps (DK, monk and DH)
Seems like a great reason that they should have saved the dragon class/expansion for a little further down the line.
Either that or BFA should have had a new ranged class.
there is no melee so its not a shaman.
I think if anything Priests have the most to be concerned about. They’re the only other class that will be a clothie with a healing and magic/ranged dps spec.
But even then, I don’t think they’ll have anything to worry about. Evoker isn’t going to invalidate another class just by existing. There will be balance issues in the beginning. They will likely be overtuned slightly, as it is better to have them overtuned and popular, so people actually play them and see if they like the style, and then nerf them as time goes on.

Evoker has other mechanics to it which will alter how it would be over shaman anyway. Ele is just the single target pew pew with utility. If anything we will probably see a lot of things we use to have come back which will make us even better than we are now. TBH i wouldn’t mind getting back our old tremor totem!
For instance things like Ancestral Awakening- on crit heals with wave or rip it puts a heal on a second target. Things like that could become talents. Or totem of wrath which gave spellpower and crit to team mates near by. Things like those are the added things we lost over time. Just look up removed items from Shamans you would be amazed at how much stuff we gained and lost over time.
You are thinking to black and white about the specs, rather than what the class represents as a kit. A spell caster that provides buffs, heals and spell damage. They even wear Mail armor. The similarities are very apparent when you look basic the few differences.

I’m glad they are mail armor users we’ve had to many leather ones. And god forbid if Master loot returns I can see fires starting in guild runs.
