Anyone get a 9070 XT?

I’m curious how it runs with WoW, since AMD had issues with WoW during the first few months of DF (possibly just with one card).

I did get one, and it’s the most I’ve ever spent on a GPU in my life but still nowhere near Nscalpia prices

I spent $725CAD on my 3070, I need to upgrade this gen cuz I’m on 1440p now so need more than 8gb VRAM. If I go 9070 XT it will cost me ~$950CAD for an OC’d model. A base 5070 Ti (which has better performance than OC’d 9070 XT) is $1070CAD. I would have considered a plain 5070 but I want at least 16gb VRAM.

What I’m hearing from reddit is 9070 XT performs about the same as 3070, because the game engine is trash and underutilizes hardware. Not sure why they aren’t fixing this. It’s been an issue since DF.

I can’t post links here for some reason, even though there is a link option in the post creation menu… But my frame cap is set to 120fps. In Dorn everything is beneath 50% utilization, yet the game isn’t hitting its framerate target, it peaks around 70fps and can go lower. Apparently same problem with a 9070 XT, severely underutilized, and severely underutilizing better CPUs as well.

As long as there are no new issues with a 9070 XT, I will probably get one for better performance in other games. But it’s sad that WoW’s engine has been left in the state it is. Any AAA game that releases with this poor optimization these days gets review bombed until it’s fixed.

If money isn’t an issue, the 5070 TI is the clear choice imo. That said, there’s no shame in the 9070 XT’s game. From every comparison I’ve seen, it puts up a helluva fight against the TI and in some cases hangs right with it; and at stock speeds

Main reason I was looking at 9070 XT was to save some money. An extra $100CAD is not a big deal. However depending on tariffs (Canadian PC part retailers have also mentioned this might become a thing) prices might go up to something I no longer want to pay. So I want to get something while I can get something. I’m on a list to get a 9070 XT, I’ve been told stock is supposed to be better than Nvidia especially since they’re having to RMA cards and laptops due to issues with their recent cards. If 5070 Tis become available before I can get a 9070 XT I’ll do that. But otherwise I’ll get a 9070 XT.

Lily and Shifty are our best advice givers, give it a bit to see if they drop in here; they’ll have the best guidance for you for sure

I’ll buy one, but I am going to wait a few months. I am not paying a scalper.

Got a PowerColor Red Devil 9070 XT on Launch Sold & Shipped by Amazon. Upgraded from an MSI Tri Frozr RTX 2070, So far the only 2 things I can complain about is HDR Mode on Black Ops’ 6 Has Color Washout in Menu’s but in game its fine, and if you Disable HDR there’s no issues at all. And WoW, upon Opening WoW for the first time since the Graphics card change I got a Pop up blizzard Message that Stated there was a known issue with my Graphics card driver (Which I downloaded earlier today) Causing low FPS issues in WoW upon first Start up… Sadly for me First Start up was playable but after Restarting to make sure everything was in good shape, opened hte game and Boom 15 - 16 FPS no matter where I go or what I’m doing, Interesting though when I tab out to my 2nd monitor and leave my character Stationary I instantly see the FPS climb well into the mid 200’s, Tab back into the game and gradually over the course of 5 seconds drops back down to 15 - 16 FPS. Wait Until stock becomes readily available Im sure this will get fixed soon.

Performed a Full DDU before swapping Graphics cards.

Ryzen 7700X
Gigabyte B650 Aorus Pro AX Motherboard
G.Skill Flare X5 64GB 6000 MT CL30
Noctua NH-U12A Chromax Black with Offset Brackets

4 TB MSI M480 Spatium Pro
4x ML140 Corsair Intake/ Output Fans (Magnetic Levitation)
3X Corsair ML120 (Magnetic Levitation) Fans 1x output 2x Graphics card intake
Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Performance C Case

So There is a Work Around to fix this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCX3acP3At4
TLDR, Uninstall AMD Adrenalin Driver using DDU, when you go back to Reinstall the driver on the main drop down menu, Select “Driver Only” option, Do NOT install the AMD Adrenalin Software Suite, Issue fixed Sadly you lose all the benefits of the Software Suite but the Game plays like it should and the Card actually clocks up like it should. Hope Any other AMD users in General having similar issues that this helps you too.

Also in further testing running with the Driver only installed I’ve noticed that in WoW the card struggles to hit 1.5 GHz @ 40C, and while the FPS is decent / playable It definitely should be much higher. While playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during the Benchmark and Online play My model is hitting 3.152 GHz - 3.17 GHz @ 52C The Cards Cooling Fans haven’t even turned on (Cooling Fans for this model turn on at 60C and Back off when the Card goes below 50C) So it seems that in the Adrenalin Software the card isn’t loading up at all and just falls on its face, and with the driver only installed Its not registering a high enough load to clock the card up, I am Running Full max details on WoW minus Raytracing as the WoW Raytracing is kinda sad lol.

I have Reported my Previous findings to AMD Directly Via their Support link on their offical website so I’m waiting to hear back from them and I’ll update them on these continued findings so hopefully a fix can come through the pipeline sooner then later. Again Hope this helps anyone looking to get a 9070 or 9070 XT model or on an older AMD card that may still have similar issues.

AMD Graphics cards are in general notorious for having random “glitches” in wow. This has nothing to do with the hardware. Its more the drivers. Keep in mind this is a very broad Generalized statement. You wont constantly have issues. You just may notice a random glitch here and there.

With that said CPU, RAM and Motherboards are more my specialty. GPUs and PSUs are Lilybug’s Specialty so I will Quote Lily here to pull Lily’s attention to this thread so you can get the most accurate Feedback

I may have considered it if not for it being too long to fit in my case since I have a front mounted AIO setup. Considering that, I went with the Hellhound, which itself is long as a bus :bus:

HDR is just hot garbage. Stop stressing over that junk and disable it. You don’t need it.

I Disabled it already I do like how it looks in Certain Applications though.

Also Congrats on your Hellhound Purchase I almost went for that as I like the look of the card but I’m very happy with the Red Devil and yes this card is HUGE as Big as an RTX 4080

It’s a whopper. 340mm long, 13mm longer than the Hellhound. Some top tier XFX models are 360mm long

still early to get constant feedback and I’ve not seen any professional reviews of the card with a blizzard game or MMO

Like Swifty said, that sounds like a driver issue as opposed to the engine.

Can you please try running with max settings and Ray Tracing on high and let us know if everything is working well? How much FPS are you getting in Dorn?

I read the the Nvidia 50 series cards are artifacting when Ray Tracing in turned on.

You are getting information mixed up. They are artifacting when DLSS4 with AI Fram Generation is on. As to be expected. If you run it without DLSS4 aka regular DLSS3 or Native Resolution than artifacting will not occur. What is causing the artifacting is the AI Multiframe Generation in DLSS4
