No worries. Ryzen will stop boosting when it hits certain temperatures or duration.
When Intel hits 7nm or 5nm. They’ll face the same challenges.

Oh I’m going to all core overclock my chip I don’t like fluctuating temperatures and and voltages so I’m going to overclock it to a steady all core overclock on the 5800x. Call me crazy but I like consistency
Your chip, your call. Overclocking will reduce single thread performance a bit which will affect gaming. Better for multi-thread.
I don’t think it’s worth it. Looks like the most bang for the buck is getting better memory. OCing the compute cores on Ryzen is a big power consumption with small gains.
Thanks for the heads up. I don’t have very much experience with ryzen the only time I get to work on one is when a customer brings in the products. I build gaming computers for a living but my store has an Intel exclusive deal. So the only time I ever get to work on a ryzen is if the customer brings all the components in and want it assembled.
Hense why my i9 10900k was so easy to get. I got it through my work. My Ryzen 5800x was a nightmare to get
I think next time around in going to just hang up the overclockinh aspect.
Might go for a clean mini it’s or something
Might go for a clean mini it’s or something
I’m running a mini on a 3950x and RTX 3070. It’s a lot more limiting than it’s worth sometimes. I originally planned for a cheap card but as my needs expanded I was limited to a RTX 3070. 120mm AIO limit, 2 slot, uggh it’s a nightmare. Imaging having someone willing to sell you a 3090 lower than MSRP and you have to turn it down type situation.
Thinking about a lower power mini itx just for steam games 60fps/1080p downstairs.
I have been using steam stream on my laptop, but it’s not quite as seamless as i’d like.
I guess I could upgrade my wifi.
Maybe try something like this
Ryzen 5 5600X
Gigabyte B550 i Aorus Pro
8GB DDR4-3600 CL16 X2
RTX 2060
1TB M.2 PCIE SSD
Corsair SF600
Casing that fits tower cooler:
Cooler Master NR200
Fractal Design Node 304
Lian Li TU150
NZXT H210
I was looking at the more set-top box variants like the node 202
Ryzen 3 3100/i3-10100
rx 5600 xt ish
My original hope was to get these cheaper for BF - but i don’t know if that’s going to be a reality.
Up to you. Main issue with slim cases is cooler limitations.
hence the lower power cpus
A tad bit pricey option, but at the very least it comes with a psu/140mm AIO…
Have you consider the nzxt h1? Definitely not a console style case, but if you have the vertical space it is a pretty good case.
Would have suggested the phantek shift but even on its side, its not much smaller than the NR200.
If have no plans with upgrade, no issue there.
Ugh, these things are poisonous.

They have guys even putting 3080s into 202s… Doesn’t really perform well thermally, but again that’s not something I’m even going for.
Although, it’s probably smarter to just get a refurbished mini office pc like a dell optiplex mini, upgrade my home network, and just stream games off my main pc
Or you can go with Asus MiniPC PN50.

The refurbs are like $199 tho
Cool. Just get those and stop looking. lol
Yeah right. I’ll never stop looking.
There’s always something to buy
You’ll pickup poison from all over the place if you don’t stop. Asrock Deskmini X300 + Ryzen 3200G (4300G if you can find it on sale separately) is another.
