Anyone else upset about Zen 3 Launch?

yep.

i mentioned this in another thread

Was mostly just surprised HUB would ever say anything positive about Intel again.

HUB is Australian. Prices there may affect their judgement. I heard PC hardware prices there are ridiculous.

I’m just relaxing for now and not too worried about stock. It’ll normalize eventually and that’s when I’ll build a new PC so I can give my current setup to the girlfriend.

Planned specs are gonna be a Ryzen 5600x, 32gb of ram with a 3080. I’ve been looking over 3080 variants and different cases while I wait for stock. Debating if I wanna do a blacked out build or an all white build or even an RGB build.

I know I’ll likely be waiting into the new year which is fine, more time to potentially change build plans haha. It’s kinda torture but very fun at the same time

100% agree! You get so much more bang for your $ that is if you have time to wait for the stock issues to resolve.

Unfortunately I didnt have this option. I had to do my build this week. So I wound up getting the i9 10900k (OC to 5.1) for 460$. Im happy with it. Would have been happier with a 5900x but it is what it is.

They generally use USD for their baseline, as despite being AU their viewership is mostly Americans.

Currently running 3900X, 32GB DDR4-3666C16, RTX 3080. Still getting only 70FPS at Boralus using Level 10 + MSAA 2X @ 2560x1440. Playing on Frostmourne Server. Wanna see how much more I can get with 5900X.

Core i7-10700K got some value. Just not as good as Ryzen. You can still find Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 7 3700X too. Ryzen 5 5600X just destroys most of the gaming numbers.

Kinda bummed I couldn’t snag a 5900x but I’m in no real rush as my 3700x is fine. Mainly looking at getting a new gpu before cyberpunk is released :sob:

I’m a bit upset but at the same time was expecting a similar behavior as with the Geforce 3000-series.

I have an early work schedule so the launch happened at a time my hands were busy. I was trying to keep an eye on all the major retailers from my phone whenever I got a moment but didn’t quite know exactly what time the launch would be - I was still rather early. By the time I found out, it was all gone.

My 3900x and 1070 is doing fine for me and I still plan on getting the 5900x along with a 3080 (and a new monitor), but I don’t want to pay more than MSRP.

I wouldn’t pay $200 for a Ryzen 5 3600 or $305-325 for a Ryzen 7 3700x at this point.

As someone (Lily?) said, never pay more for old tech than it used to be if you can avoid it.

Given the choice between these, I’d get a 10700k over either of these choices but that’s me.

I’d get a 5800x or 5900x over the 5600x, because I personally won’t get another 6 core because I would want a bigger upgrade, even if it is just laterally.

5900x would be an amazing choice.

That Lily is a genius :joy: Even techspot (notorious AMD fans) stated the ryzen 5600x is not really a major upgrade from the Ryzen 3600 which offers intel 8700/9700(non-k) performance.

fantastic CPU…assuming you can use all that power.

@ 5.1ghz it would be around 5% faster then the 5900x at gaming (depending on the game)

the 5900x is 2.64% faster than the 10900k on average fps. intel is trash

Whats wrong with Intel?
Microcenter has the 10700k priced @ 320 which is much better value than a 5600xt or even a 5800xt. Especially if gaming is your goal.

185 avg FPS is trash but 190 avg FPS is silky smooth? I just want to make sure we have our facts separated from fan boy hyberpole.

Apparently their current flagship processor is 2.64% slower in avg FPS then AMD’s flagship therefore making the entire line up “trash”…or there is an ever so slight possibility Intel is not the CPU manufacturer inside smokeymonk’s PC and in order to quell any buyer’s remorse on his purchase he decided to go scorched earth (Trump style) on the competition.

Keep in mind that Intel chips still do benefit from OC. The reviews I’ve seen seem to indicate mostly neutral or in some cases detrimental performance effects from OCing Zen 3.

The only real complaint I have about 10th gen Intel is lack of PCIE4 from a feature-richness perspective. I think they were behind the ball on that, even if its only a marginal benefit at present.

same in the reviews I have see, makes little sense to OC these Ryzen 3 CPUs and the Intel CPUs can obliviously make up that insurmountable “2.64” difference when OC.

10th gen Intel has a lot of fixes that cause issues on older Intel chips (ie the HT slowdowns).

I was asking someone with a 5600X and he was getting 200fps in places I was ‘only’ getting 150fps on a 10 Gen Intel. 1080 TI at 1440p for both.

I wouldn’t call Intel trash but Zen3 does have a massive uplift in some games, yes.

Got it to 5.3 All Core Had some settings messed up

10900k at stock yes. Not at 5.3 . At 5.0+ they trade blows on games. Have compared same rigs. at 5.3 the 10900k is slightly ahead by about 2-3%. Same motherboard too. Both rigs were on the RoG Hero (Z490 Hero vs x570 Hero). However the moment I use my 4400mhz ram kit the 10900k takes over by a larger margin. Sadly I have yet to see a Zen3 do over 4000 at 1:1

Dont get me wrong I would have got the 5900x hands down. But I needed to do my Build NOW. I have no microcenter near me. They are impossible to get online. It will probably stay that way till Q1 of 2021

Motherboard and Ram kit can heavily factor into this. Even if they are the same speed. Samsung B die vs SK Hynix for example even if they are the same speed. The Samsung may slightly pull ahead. Many people do not realize how big of a deal Motherboard choice can be. Basically it could be a combination of these factors
