I’ve seen 5 or 6 guildies get an auto 7 day ban already since tbc launched. I know for sure 2 of them were NOT afking as I was playing games with them. If they do something other than join the mob people will just right click and report afk which can trigger an auto ban for 7 full days.
Same thing happened to me. If you defend you’ll get banned it’s best to just sit mid and fight people. Apparently if you sit in towers you don’t have enough damage or healing done so blizzard will say you’re afk.
So screw playing objectives you have to pump those numbers up so you aren’t banned. Donkey brain GMs of course don’t care.
I’ve not been banned either but I’m scared to do AV farm because 've seen honest players banned. I can’t speak for everyone I’m referring to but I know for sure 2 of them do not AFK BG’s
If I get my paladin to 60 in SoM (it’ll be my second toon to level,) I’ll consider the AV grind for The Unstoppable Force. That’s as close to end-game as I’ll get in SoM.
Well to be honest I have been scared to do AVs (BGs) because I’ve also had friends suspended for 8 days. This was at the end of Classic and I decided to rank an alt for something to do. I got scared but didn’t want to stop so I kept going.
The thing is I have no idea if these people were actually AFKing or not. Still, when I do BGs I’m always aware there’s a possibility of a suspension, so I can understand being scared.
I don’t understand why it’s an instant 8 day suspension either. I think that’s a bit extreme. I think it should be like 24 hours for the first offense, THEN 7 days. 24 hours is more of a warning like " hey whatever tf you were doing is not acceptable".
Especially considering that gold buyers are only getting 3 days bans.
Sure now for tbc they should change that to lower for first time, but back in vanilla classic it was a very harsh punishment for those leechers who “ranked” and halved everyones honor / losing them the bg on purpose. It was made with the ranking era in mind as those leechers would lose 2 weeks of ranking due to it deservingly.
its called afk hill for a reason, people sit there and dont defend tower or relief hut. horde atk towers so if they are truly defending they will be in combat. defending a mine is pointless and sitting at tower once once its been capped is also what many do. so you say they werent afk but they probably were tabbed or something.
you can always dispute it and get back online within a day or two. you would have to be reporting in multiple games to get the ban not just 40 people from one game which is highly unlikely since most people wont report unless told and even then its not the whole group. they may not have been afkign when you were playing with them but at other times aswell or as i stated was tabbed (afk) while still talking in discord
