Not sure what happened between Wotlk and Cata, but I am noticing so many rude people in random dungeon queue.
Between people needing on everything they can, people cursing and arguing with other players, and just overall just terrible attitudes from players, and usually they are tanks and healers.
As a healer, i usually just try to tell dps what to move out of if they died from it without being rude shrug

yea idk about all that i had a night in wrath where i had 3 disc priest in a row feel like they needed to tell everyone how bad they were and how perfect they are lol and tanks had massive egos as well i dont think cata had anything to do with players acting like that

Cata isn’t a true classic game. Just classic in name only. It’s basically the very first retail version. From here most of the retail features were born, the world landscape completely changed and many quests, items and stuff changed or disappeared.
Prior to Cata MOST of the things that were in Classic era “vanilla” were there. You could level up at 1 and enjoy it.
So now this Retail classic game we’re playing is attracting a different type of audience. Mostly retail tourists… These folks are also gonna bounce when TWW drops. Some folks will go back to SoD for P4 and some will return to private servers for TBC/Wrath versions. Meanwhile Era and Hardcore still exist and will also continue to peel players away…
Good luck!

Even with the added issues of being in a fresh expansion vs. the most powerful versions at the end of the last I’d say 75% of my groups have zero people speak in them as usual.
Have had a BoE epic ninja (we were all going to need but a mage greeded first so some of us were trying to be nice and then one guy took it after we all rolled) and some arguments but more often than not it’s just a typical group.
I guess I talk in chat more often to try to get people to dispel or interrupt some specific thing to make my life easier but half the time I say anything in chat nobody responds or does anything at all in response to it. When I would get HoO at first I would try to get the mages to spellsteal the 50% haste buff but a lot of them preferred to be less useful even when it was mentioned so I just stopped mentioning it.

New to the internet? anonymity has always spawned jerks. Its not a retail/classic thing. You pack a bunch of weirdo’s into a virtual world there is going to be people that are unhinged.
Out in the wild its just rng how many crazies you run into

Wish I was new to the internet, but been playing this game since beta.
Just wild to see such an uptick from last expansion honestly, and its still less than the DBD and SF6 communities.

Hate to break it to you, toxic community existed just as large back in original versions of the game too.
Go look at waybackmachine and search for key words like “elitist”

I think you got it backwards. There’s always been an abundance of rude players. However, I have noticed a steady increase in insecure players with fragile egos lately. Kids these days, am I right?

It’s the retail waiting room and SoD died off. Classic brought in a bunch of GDKP RMTers who are toxic to the entire game because they know they can just buy progress.

The average content is slightly more difficult (heroic dungeons as an example).
Because of that the bad players are causing more issues.

I haven’t really noticed it being more common but I’ve definitly noticed that they’ve become more… crass with their words.

I mean in cata “classic” we have alot of raids which will be gdkp, unlike the original three it is lacking in raids which give good gear for the effort. So unless you want to pay to be a carry you probably need good preraid which probably means lots of dungeon grinding.
Plus given how bad cata is they prob want to rush to mop and or legion but want to make as much money from token until it slows down. Players know this and well want to make as much money as possible.
As for the tanks and healers they have much less cues and so can afford to need on disenchanting mats and the like.
No but I suspect a bit of server bro before random, where off spec seems to trump legit need. Perhaps coincidence.

Generational difference or even life ones are part of that I think.
I have thicker skin for many reasons. If one Spends some time in a crap military unit internet randoms raging ain’t nothing,
I’ve stood in many formations for an hour in hot mid summer suns hearing a sergeant major rage about stupid crap we had no control over.
I’d rate the chat rager 1/10 there. More points if they make it interesting.

I haven’t really noticed this, as a rule. Of course there are random outliers here and there.
A warlock needed on a strength cloak the other day.

Confirmed can no longer level from 1 in cata. Rip forced to start at 2.

It’s a combination of narcissism and no punishment for bad behavior. The lack of difficulty doesn’t help. It was funny that Blizzard wanted people to sign a “social contract” when they have practically no enforcement for their EULA for the game or forum.
