Anyone else not really hyped for 9.1?

I haven’t played in over a month and I logged in today to see if I could just do something to prepare for Tuesday, but I was just overcome with a feeling of MEH and logged out again without even moving my character.

That having been said, I am looking forward to new chapters of the storyline and I’m glad that it changes week per week because I HATE dailies with the fury of a thousand suns.

Its just more of the same PVE to PVP crap. so no I am not excited.

Im hyped to beat Sylvannas(I know they wont let us kill her sadly) but thats it.

I realize that this is an unpopular opinion, but I believe that people actually can understand that each expansion took a new direction. We can enjoy this without shoehorning more recent characters and plot twists in and removing all of the story and much of the old content which doesn’t fit in the newest version.

I think they want to remove the world altogether and make “wow” into what could only end up as a tiny hardcore esports only game with a cult following. That’s the game they want to design. The existence of a “world” is an inconvenience to that model. And they need to keep the world on some basis in order to justify using the word “world” in the product name. But their target demographic doesn’t care about history or rpg elements.

In this model, every “expansion” would be a freestanding minigame where people who like to think of themselves as the most hardcore of hardcores will still be fighting over who is playing the game right, and who is playing it wrong and needs to be stopped.

When I log into the game now I almost expect to see some tumbleweeds blowing around . It has the look of an outdated stale content game. I am waiting for them to open it up and make it free to play like all the rest. I have been with this game since it began and it is at its lowest point I have ever seen. The worst thing is the feel that the people in charge are probably on vacation on a beach somewhere and just letting their bank accounts fill up while they wait for some poor little 3 man team to make them some more money.
It sad to watch the only game I have really played in the last 15 years go out this way.

Nope, too much timegating and bad loot drops, as well as crappy systems.

there are million players. it’s impossible to satisfy all of them. if you satisfy one group, the opposing group would be offended. on this case in shadowlands, i am satisfied with the game. it’s not perfect but it’s still a good game.

blizz is brave to make new content. it would be a hit and miss. i didnt like torghast at first. but later on, i began to like it especially when i realized that’s it’s much fun to do it and more faster when in group than in solo. it was nerfed couple of times to make it accessible. torghast will stay in shadowlands whether you like it or not.

raider io is not doing fine. that external addon is dictating on who’s getting invited and who’s not getting invited on an m+ group. the first step is blizz to make their own scoring system and after gathering data, they should be able to figure out how to group up people especially those who were not being chosen to be invited.

new legendaries would be introduced. there are new covenant legendaries. and there are gear of domination with slots/shards. there would be a new M+10 affix., there would be a new megadungeon with a hidden hardmode to unlock (i hope) and new raid with sylvanas on it… and she would drop that bow for my hunter as my hunter needs a new toy. it would be fun.

WoW is all about dungeons, raid and PvP. And 9.1 will have those. I dont care of the PvP. But on PvE, it looks fun to me.

I’d say “meh” but it flags me for not enough characters heh.

I’m not.

Renown levels are pointless. I’m not doing WQs anymore because they’re awful. Torghast is a 30min a week chore. New covenant story is either time-gated to 2 quests a week so it’ll take 2 months to complete or it’ll take me an hour to do it all if it’s not time-gated. New “zone” just seems like another boring daily hub with the same old rehashed assaults which have been boring since Legion.

The raid will be cool to do a couple of times as a heroic raider and the same goes for the dungeon. M+ is the same old thing we’ve been doing for like 6 years now and I’m honestly bored of grinding out keys for a chance of loot.

I’d be more excited if it didn’t revolve around repeating the same crap as a core requirement for another 6+ months

doing torghast another zillion times and the same dungeons another zillion times plus the same boring questing for hours and hours

the only new stuff is the small korthia zone, the new raid (which is severely time gated especially if you only care about lfr), and one new dungeon that isn’t even going to be on the matchmaker until some later tier

total time to digest the actual new content is 1-2 months maximum and that is only due to time gating. You can really see and repeat it plenty in 1 month or less if it was open from the first week.

knowing this, it is kinda hard to get very excited about 9.1 and it is likely better digested in the last month of 9.1 rather than now - even more tempting is to just skip it until there is more new content overall like 9.1 and 9.2 combined

bliz promised no new systems but has added at least 5 since that promise. 9.2 will likely follow suit with more system bloat. Systems instead of content, that is bliz now.

it is clear that there is a correlation between people that get addicted to systems and people that make increased cash shop gold buys the longer they play

no hype here, the only thing that interests me is the raid and that’s it. rest of it is content i have no interest in grinding. guess i’ll try for aotc and then go play tbc and or d2r b/c this patch is so underwhelming. i can’t believe it took them 8+ months for this.

I am with you it does not look at all fun, I will be passing this patch by and I have never done that before.

only thing good in shadowlands is the pets

Like the new content (of course) not hyped about having to switch covenants and refract leggoz

Such an original response. People have said this EVERY expansion including when BC was out. “Oh the devs don’t listen because I want this and that but they didn’t add it.”

Sounds like then you need to move on. Nothing wrong with being burnt out on a game. If you like mmos there are tons to choose from.

It’s a heap of systems I don’t want to engage with, and the only “feedback” Blizzard listens to is not playing, so there’s really only 1 choice for me.

I’m less excited for it than I’ve been for any patch in recent memory. Blizzard’s stubbornly refusing to address any of the major problems with Shadowlands. Flying is finally coming… But only in old zones that are no longer relevant. Grind legendaries again. Grind key stone master again. Grind vicious mount again. Redo a lot of the stuff you already did in 9.0. Sylvanas is at the center of it so the story is going to be even more of a disaster than usual. New dungeon is dead on arrival due to how weak the gear from it is.

If nothing else I guess we’ve got a new zone and a new raid. It’s just those are pretty standard features for new patches. I wish they were coming in a patch that wasn’t otherwise a complete dud.

My reply was going to be exactly this, almost verbatim.

Definitely not playing 9.1. I doubt I’ll play any the rest of SL unless there’s a big philosophy shift with the devs.

The standard should not be catering to the group that is the most easily offended that there are others not like them.

It is actually possible to satisfy more than one player demographic, if they wanted to. It is clear that this is not a goal of theirs, or they would have done a better job at it.
