Anyone else miss companions?

After WoD and Legion I thought maybe the companion system might end up being expanded on, maybe having their own storyline where you help them on or something.

But it’s like they dropped it altogether. It was always comfy having your companion backing you up and having their particular battlecry. I miss it.

I think Companions should still be around for people levelling up in healing specs.

You’re thinking of followers/bodyguards. Companions are those little battle pets that follow you around.

No.

Any system that makes the game feel like a single-player experience I will always hate and want them gone forever.

I just can’t buy into having Eitrigg as a part of my experience because I know it’s not unique to me.

I use my robot bird to replace them in BFA… but its not the same!

I do miss my worgen bro palling around with me in Legion.

No. It got a little crowded as a BM hunter during Legion.

I hated bodyguards with the fires of a thousand burning suns and hope I never have to use one in this game ever again.

I’d rather have ongoing class hall stories for every expansion.

No. I really don’t like bodyguard companions. When I did the whole druid thing in Legion to experience that expansion’s content (I didn’t play Legion when it was current), I found the bodyguards utterly annoying and chose to level them through the mission table only.

I wouldn’t mind if it came back as an optional thing for people, but I don’t personally like them.

I’ve actually been enjoying leveling my mage as she was a boost back in WoW so I had the free level 3 garrison. I’m 46 now running around with Vivianne and absolutely loving it.

Yes, both the warlords style where you could get friendlier with the bodyguard (such as to unlock a mobile mission table with the healer Sabron - https://www.wowhead.com/follower=219/leorajh), and the more general legion version.

It’d be neat if it could be like mentioned where they have their story that you hear and possibly help with over time, particularly if it could be an optional thing (as there are, as can be seen in this thread, quite a few who very much dislike followers)

You didn’t enjoy the “angrily yell at everything to spawn beasts out of thin air” fantasy? :stuck_out_tongue:

As far as bodygyards go i didn’t really care for them in WoW, they weren’t nearly as impactful or customisable enough to be interesting.

I miss Diablo 2 hirelings though.

not even a tiny bit.

they were annoying and obnoxious, getting me in, or keeping me in, combat, and/or emoting constantly.

glad they’re gone.

Hell no.

I hate pets, even hate quest npc that run with me. They are annoying and get in the way, do stupid AI stuff.

Hate them.

I miss my twins from legion

I love hate it for this reason.

if it wasn’t these lore characters maybe i’d like it more. Like if it was just the generic npcs we see when other people have them i’d like it more.

I loved how they got in the way of quests and items to pick up. That was fun.

I know he wasn’t a follower/bodyguard, but I miss Runas following me around…he has such great stories and quips :frowning:
