The grind is nearly unbearable, but once I started looking into how legendary intensive some classes are, I just stopped playing.

anyways, some classes need up to three depending on the content. even on a “full” population server these can go for 50k+ gold EACH. not to mention how it ruins tier.
Eh, I find m+ helps a lot with that. you can even perpetually valor-upgrade it even after turning it to tier.
also if you wait until its upgraded past a certain ilvl, you get the corresponding raid difficulty appearance.
have a lot of normal difficulty leather pieces despite never really setting foot in there.
That’s chump change, and if you don’t like paying it then make them yourself.
Getting the best items in the game shouldn’t be easy.

You can just buy the 249s. on thrall, the max price for any non-JC of them is 10k currently

That’s a choice you make to run them as mains. But you can easily get inexpensive 249s.
If you read guides, you can plan around that.

The irony is on any alliance server, especially smaller ones, the 262 and 291 are usually cheaper than those.

Not really. They are pretty cheap now that the soul cinder/ash stuff isn’t gated. Average casual pulls down 500K gold per week so costs are not outrageous if spread out on several alts.
Well, I only managed to finish(*) leveling my stable of alts yesterday, so I haven’t quite reached the stage of worrying about legendaries yet.

Agreed. I’ve seen them go for cheaper. Which makes it even easier, since you can send the currency and Flux is quick to get. You can even hit Honored with Enlightened and spend the alt’s extra Flux on the currency and still have enough Flux to start making tier.
If you didn’t know, Enlightened sell enough Ash and Cinders to craft the 291s. And if you need to, your main can convert Ash and Cinders in Korthia to BoA to send to alts.
If you run the callings, you should be able to start affording the legendary base items pretty easily. The only drawback is some of the memories if they’re on a world boss or in Torghast.
