Anyone else feel like there's no pressure in Classic?

Pressure might not be the best word choice, but I have found myself shrugging off things that would normally bug me, by saying “oh well, it’s not retail”.

Lost a roll for the Brewfest kodo by 1? No biggies, I have it in retail.

Currently broke? No biggies, I’ll get 280% speed flying later. If I have a “need for speed”, I can switch to retail.

Don’t feel like rushing to get geared for raiding? Worst case scenario, I did all the raids 14 years ago, I’m not missing anything. Maybe look forward to Heroic+ in a few months.

It’s not to bash Classic, I think if anything, it’s a benefit. It takes out many of the frustrations, which makes playing Classic more enjoyable.

It sounds like you’re just using Classic as a tourist site while Retail has content droughts.

I mean, wouldn’t anyone who’s played WoW back then be doing the same thing?

I can watch the same movie more than once and still enjoy it. I can play the same games over and over, no matter how many times I beat them, and still enjoy my time.

The amount of arena people ive heard are “2900 rated in retail” is pretty high, I guess they felt there was no pressure in classic

No, some people play Classic as their main game. It’s not a side-game for them to pick up only during retail content droughts.

I feel the opposite. Classic and Retail are two entirely different games. Classic has been the competition, retail is candy garbage

My retail character has 28000+ achievement points last I looked. Most of them were gained back in the original wotlk, when I was deeply invested in this game.

Yes, I am not all that interested in getting it all again. The only thing I’m going for is my motorcycle, but I don’t have to win some roll for that, I get to build it with my own two hands =)

Blizzard competing against…Blizzard?

Kind of reminds me of this old commercial:

Competition for what? world first “insert raid” clear on a 15 year old game. lmao

Be safe and wear a helmet, there’s no Val’kyr to raise you (again).

I’m not bashing Classic, if you only play it and don’t even have retail installed on your PC, more power to you!

I’m just saying that it’s nice to play through it all again, but without needing to take it as seriously as before.

WOTLK is supposed to be the fun expansion. Nothing should be taken serious

There is less pressure because there is less “YOU GOTTA DO THIS” bs in the game right now.

Outside of gearing up which is basically the main MO of wow getting better gear. The only other like requiered thing you have to do in order to progress is Hodir rep for shoulder enchants. Out side ofthat, you jsut run the heroics you need to get Pre Raid BiS, and do gathering.

Vs Retail which is:

  • Do choreghast for your currency
  • Get your proper lego piece
  • max out your covenent to get your max follower
  • do your min 3 keys at max level which are all random dungeons and random chances at loot
  • Do your dailies to upgrade you crap
    ect ect

Retail everything you do, you have to because you are obligated to in order to remain viable, especially in pvp.
Classic you do what you want because you want to do it outside of hodir rep.

It’s a different type of grind for me. Joyous journeys really pushed me to take advantage of the buff, then I wanted to power level JC and get dual spec before wotlk launch. Now that launch hit, I’m taking my time and questing out the zones. I much prefer TBC dungeons, but I like wotlk questing better.

Naxx Will be on its fourth tour of relevancy now (OG rel, wotlk OG rehash, classic rel, and now wotlk classic rehash) so I can’t say I’m that excited for it lol.

I have pressure in Retail. I gotta raid with my guild and do 8x 15’s every week for my vault. I have no pressure in Wrath Classic. I’m a lowly 23 paladin going from quest to quest, auctioning cloth and boe’s. I’ll be playing DF, so I have no pressure to rush to 80 and honor farm or do Naxx.

Kind of. Maybe not to the extreme you do. But the mount part is one. I think in my case though its because i see no future. I never olanned to play classic past wotlk. So its like there is nothing that has meaning. Or worth caring about. Its like, live for the present only. Which is why boosts and cash shop mounts dont phase me.

Also, with the stupid changes bkizz is making like removing the few good changes like removing rdf. I am guaranteed done after wrath. And i was going to try out the next retail expansion but with dumb decisiins like temoving rdf are being made, i dont trust them in retail either.

So yeah, i get you feel the way you do, but for me its because i dont plan on playing into the future.

Its hilarious to me that people think “world first” kills are a thing in Classic.

Classic for me at least has so much less pressure. Retail gives you so many things to do every week to be optimal. In classic it’s just one or two raids a week. With wrath there’s almost entirely buyable prebis and easy reps. Far simpler and easier than retail.

Yeah, I don’t see myself playing a Cataclysm Classic (if it happens) either.

One thing I really love about Classic, is that I can see the old zones from before Cataclysm.

I’m mostly in Wrath Classic because of nostalgia. It was my favorite expansion. I loved everything about it, so of course I’m going to play it again. Only this time, I don’t need to worry as much about getting BiS raid gear and work through raid achievements. If they happen, they happen.
