Anyone else excited for Druid of the Claw?

Excited to be disappointed I mean.

Here’s some opinions from someone who’s played Druid since the beginning, and mained feral since BWL, maybe Molten Core, but it’s been so long, I forget.

I still get excited for every little bit of feral news because we’re a neglected spec. The only spec still getting penalized for being a hybrid. The only spec with a 3 point talent node. The only class that got a penalized covenant ability (Venthyr). The only spec so much non-QoL stuff.

Can we have a designer who’s passionate about feral? So much things are tedious just to be tedious. It’s as if Blizzard hates feral and doesn’t want anyone to play it. Maybe it’s too hard to balance the 4 specs, so they just spend their time on resto and balance, and just do whatever to pass feral and guardian. We get no communication, so this is how it feels.

Incap Roar- Shifts you into bear, shifting back into cat costs a GCD. Stampeding Roar doesn’t shift you into bear (this is here as an example of something good in contrast). As a work around, Tiger’s Fury can shift you back into cat without GCD, but it sometimes bugs your Action Bar, but as it has a cooldown, it’s not always up, so I can’t rely on it.

The cooldown on prowl is too long. Rogues have a 2 second cooldown on stealth, why not druid?

Next iteration on the druid and feral talent tree, assume feral wants to DPS and give us some non-healing capstones. Yes, I sometimes heal my party with regrowth. Is it fun gameplay? Meh. Would I trade that ability to do more damage? Of course!

Let us press AoE buttons while in a Single Target build. All skills should be baseline and Talents should buff those skills. I know you wanted to use the talent tree to limit the skills you get as you level, but it feels bad when you get into combat while trying to change talents so you can help with trash. Just make us auto learn them at certain levels.

I don’t agree with Convoke being a much better choice than Incarnation. I don’t like the “Game playing for me is the best build” design Blizzard has be going into. I literally take my hands off the keyboard when I press convoke. I feel like there is no universes where this should be the best. Blizzard should be rewarding skill and planning. RNG and smart targeting is no fun for me. (Venthyr should have been the strongest covenant due to the penalty if you messed it up)

I want to be able to manage class and spec talent trees separately. It’s tedious. 10 saved builds is way too little. And it’s not even 10 per spec, it’s 10 per character. Give us like 20 per spec.

Let us get the old unobtainable forms. - This is my one regret. I just leveled to max and got burnt out. Didn’t know they were removing them until it was too late. I’m fine with transmog and titles being unobtainable, but feral forms are way too few and they show up as an option still locked. I doubt it was that hard to get. I’ll prove it in Legion classic.

That’s it for now. Hopefully they don’t ban me again for this type of post. Thanks.

cant point this out. the blizzard white knights are going to swoop in and act like your saying blizzard has it out for you specifically and that they have better things to do than to hate a spec specifically and other stupid things they say. as someone whos played feral for just as long i think its time to throw away the feral spec and get a complete rework on the level of melee survival. its obvious whoever has been working on the spec has 0 idea what their doing or even what there trying to do. its the only spec with friction for the sake of friction while also getting the age old hybrid tax that nobody else has to pay into. there are no new people playing the spec its just those of us left who played the spec for over a decade + that are playing it cause we like it and not because its fun because it hasnt felt fun in a wile

After seeing the other one, I feel like we’ve got at least another expansion of being a convoluted mess before they make Ion give up on complicating the rotation.

Based on what I see in the Druid of the Grove, expect a doubling down on things like long ramping dps, a prevalence of bite focused play, and complete lack of defensives.

Expect nothing to synergize with your current kit, in fact; I assume the it will leave you holding CDs more often for a nearly invisible boost to dps.

We are already like 200k below everyome else, I’m expecting us to dip even further next expansion. Honestly as a long time Druid/Feral main even I’m thinking of switching class or not buying TWW, I love the fantasy of Feral druid among many other things even playstyle. After starting in mid mists my first class being druid, it gives me such a heavy heart to see the class treated this way.

But blizzard keep us so low and then the fact they make so Pi and Aug buffs don’t get sent to us, widening the gap even further. I’m worried about the hero trees like %100 as I expect the Feral/Resto tree to heavily favor Resto druids in terms of balancing and the Feral/Guardian tree to favor guardian. x3 As I feel like it’s going to be designed around off-tanking which is literally impossible to do in WoW since tank busters are impossible for feral to tank and be a wasted hero talent tree.

I will wait and see but sadly with blizzard leaving us with beta versions of trees and the current two previews we have. I don’t have high hope at all and I expect to get stuck with beta version TWW hero talents and whatever else the next two expansions cook up.

I will be watching and seeing how things go before making a decision on what I want to do. But do I have high hopes? no, not at all. I wish you all the best of luck though.

this is blizzards go to move. have a stupid idea get told its dumb and then double down until finally accepting it was bad and then giving some monkeys paw solution. i cant think of another gaming company where the devs give the feeling of we hate our players even remotely close to blizzard, and i dont consider nintendo for this because there just a japanese company. they do things like that normally.

Well let’s dissect this for a second shall we?

What do people want with Feral?
To be a Bleed oriented spec right. What does that entail? DoT’s - damage OVER TIME. Over time indicating what exactly? Ramp up time. There we go. And what do ramp up classes struggle with? Burst. You want to be bleed oriented and be bursty at the same time? Well they contradict one another. And when we are focused on a bleed style play, what do we not want? To be reapplying the same DoTs every 4-5 seconds. So what do we do for 15-20 seconds while we wait to have to reapply our DoTs? That’s right, we go ham on the Bites.

No wonder why we don’t get anything ever done for the class. Everyone’s great idea is to tear down their own idea.

Our Bites aren’t bad and we don’t really need to funnel more damage into them to be bursty. With Sabertooth and Apex, we can alternate finishers to keep all those Rips applied by PW ticking hard. But what could help us out is a slight improvement to the direct damage portion of PW and ToW and Rip and Tear.

A little more oomph upon spreading Rip initially and doesn’t feel entirely lackluster to get set up for Rampant Ferocity.

We have the options for a strong full bleed build already with AS. But we lose out on any chance of what little burst we can apply in a short window.

Given the other ones we’ve seen they are going to look for A) what ties two specs together and B) cooldowns or rotational abilities they can tie powers to.

What do feral and bear have in common? Beserk.

I fully expect more power and complexity to be shoved into Beserk. I can only hope it will be better than a spec based around Lunar Beam…

Moonfire is barely an afterthought for Feral though. I don’t think this is the route they’d go…I hope this isn’t the route they go

No, Lunar Beam spec is what they previewed for Moon bear, balance/guardian tree

i have no problem playing rap up classes and i dont need to feel bursty. i like dot classes since there different so its nice to play 1 as a alt. what i dont want and have a problem with is having a garbage heal little survivability needing to waste gcds to go bear so i survive a incomming hit and then go back to cat form to dps and doing my rotation right and still being just barely above the tank. thats the not fun part. you took 1 part out of contex for what i said and ran with it. oh i also hate berserk. it feels like a bad cooldown and its now tied to so many nods just to not be garbage. feral is the only spec that my big cooldown doesnt feel like i used a cooldown

when was this cause i dont remember seeing that?

Blizzcon IIRC. You can see a bit of the tree for balance/bear on wowhead

Had nothing to do with what you said, more with what Kaercha said, but play victim if you’d like, sure.

Feral during Incarn with a full bite build feels really strong. I agree I dislike the focus on bites and wish it was more like S1 bleed spec, but they really seem to hate letting specs do their damage through dots.

not playing the victim. you quoted what i said out of context… try to defend it however you want you did what i said

lol

So you’re saying that Blizzard doesn’t double down on these ideas such as:

??

Which is what i dissected? Nothing is taken out of context. You’re just unable to refute anything I said because it’s true.

i said blizzard doubles down on bad ideas… you quoted the first part of what i said. the fact you dont seem to know that you took a part of what i said is why you dont understand. its not that im unable to refute anything you said its that i cant seem to dumb it down enough . theres even something to look at so you can see what you did. i dont have the time crayons or a desire to make it any simpler for you. it isnt worth the energy to reply past this

Which was instigated by what Kaercha said with:

Otherwise you’d have had no reason to say it. Meaning nothing I took was out of context. You think Blizzard giving players what they want is a “Blizzard move” lol

Unless you created a strawman claiming “Blizzard doubles down on bad ideas” based on nothing that was said? Which would be up your alley for responses I guess. So that makes sense.

I didnt have a problem ramping fast in the beginning of DF when we could double Rake out of stealth, Thrash, a Brutal Slash or two then Primal Wrath all within a few seconds. Rinse and repeat rotating in a Shred to keep up Bloodtalons as necessary. THEN they had to change it to throwing in Ferocious Bite in the middle of your AOE rotation and as of late you have to add in there a Feral Frenzy on cooldown to get to where you were in the beginning of the expansion.

They kept adding layers of skills to the buildup and trying avoid mechanics it was easier with the four step rotation and win with bleeds, they convoluted the rotation so it is not as fun as it was before with a nice smooth rotation. Im overtired so I hope I made sense while typing this out lol

Still the same

Did this in S1 as well. Used Apex procs with Rampant Ferocity between Primal Wrath spams for free energy and to keep Sabertooth buff rolling

This was used in S1 on higher Tyr weeks as well

This is tuning and has nothing to do with how many buttons you press.

They added Feral Frenzy before we go ham. Thats ir. Wouldnt call that layers of skill

They weakened the bleeds and added more steps to reach the same outcome, simple to understand unless you just want to troll lol
