Story is ONE point, but it reflects in many other things. Pure mechanics and gameplay has been crashed upon by the notion that Horde and Alliance should be “the same”, have “the same” and play “the same”.
One of the things that makes that more evident is the fact that you can have ZERO relation to the story of the faction to play it or not. That means they are actually irrelevant.
However, the problem is that makes quest design, dungeon design, gameplay scaling, all be bogus, because they cant call on specific powers or abilities from each faction. It makes them without flavor, generic. And that makes races and classes also generic, without flavor.
However by popular demand, the Alliance has “absorbed” Horde elements, not the other way around.
Tried it on the PTR. Honestly playing Horde at all for me is just bad. It kills my love for the game. It never use to be this bad but for some psychological reason on top of the ones mentioned in my OP I am just not happy there. My own brother is Horde now and I am still Alliance.
Alliance goblin. Even though I would be in “Horde Mode”, I’m nowhere in the serious progression scenes of high M+ keys, raids, BG+, and Arena. Everything I have done is directly related to the Alliance. I’ve horsewhipped them for 6 years and now I have to retire because of a bad rotator cuff.
I’m Alliance for life too, even though I hate my faction. I have zero in common with those who are Horde for life and therein lies the contrast. The Alliance is the devil I know.
I hate the Alliance’s narcissistic crybabism, and I hate the Horde’s sociopathic neckbeardism. Which one do others find the eviler devil? At least with narcissistic tendencies, Allies try not to put others down if they’re already self-satisfied, but Hordies just love to do the things that make them feel good.
Opposite. Horde wanted elves like the alliance had while pretending to be tough and rebellious. Players want to be tough guys, or cute Belf boys. One or the alliance. Alliance has no impact on the thinking of these frat girls/boys that want to act tough.
Night Elf definitely my favorite race. They’re just so cool and classy and got endless lore and interesting areas where they hang out/architecture, atmosphere, etc. Dwarf is probably my second favorite but it would be hard to ever top Night Elf with new races.
Horde should not have elves. It’s always been blasphemy that Blizzard put elves on Horde.
You speak the truth, I remember Horde constantly saying how they hated elves before they had any and would say they wanted no part of Elves but as soon as the Blizzard gave them elves a lot of people seem to start playing them. They sold out fast in being a cute elf they probably just hit randomize name because they couldn’t even wait to be their beautiful elf. So much for the big bad Horde eh.
Elves should’ve been Alliance exclusive and I’ll die on that hill.
