Just curious, since they get ignored by pretty much every other organization, from political to entertainment. Also, if you’re in a red/conservative majority state have you ever received one? Please be honest, working on a theory here.
Edit: Feel the need to clarify, the theory, from a marketing standpoint, was fly over states tend to have less people with disposable income and conservatives tend to view gaming as a waste of time or unproductive. So “red” states in general would spend less time and money on Blizzard products. So, not a profitable demographic. Wasn’t trying to imply that Blizzard discriminates based on voting habits.
Does Colorado Count? I generally receive every 3 out of 4 surveys. Maybe a bit more than that.
Problem is that I’m brutally honest on them and sometimes they don’t get the answers they want to hear. Like asking for a complete refund if they add in NFTs on all my Blizz products.
Your theory holds no water. The User Research and Marketing teams have no idea what your politics are. They don’t care where you live. None of that matters with regard to gaming.
They care about basic account metrics:
Do you have a Bnet account
Is it active/inactive - for how long
What games are on the account and how often you play them
If you have account infractions
The User Research team designs surveys based on whatever data they need - so a general user patterns survey like the most recent one, goes to a HUGE number all over the place. A survey about a Beta that someone just played would go to a random sampling of people who played that Beta.
You can learn more about the User Research team here
TL:DR the computer does NOT know your politics and does not care where you live.
P.S. I live in a red rural area and sometimes I get one and sometimes I do not. Random sampling from a huge number of Bnet accounts is random.
Edit because I accidentally left out a very important word!
Basically a State that presidential candidates just fly (going from coast to coast) over most of the campaign maybe making an appearance their once while on a layover of if scheduling allows.
More rural states like Idaho, Nebraska, The Dakotas. States that aren’t your typical destination for most. Think it’s mostly a political term though. Used to describe non-swing states or something.
I would think if they want to survey the current Classic players you would all be in the random pile for the computer to select from. That stuff is all automated. They just put in parameters and the computer does it and sends out the emails.
I don’t know of any recent Classic surveys, but I don’t play that version so would not be the target group for on.
Looks like one went out to a sampling of folks last June?
There was a recent one that asked a lot of very basic demographic info as well. What platforms you play on, what genres you like, what Blizz games you have and if you recently played them, etc.
What does oppression have to do with marketing? Conservatives tend to look down on Gaming and the entertainment industry as a whole, which is why I asked. Had nothing to do with our politics.
