I just picked up fishing yesterday as I’m trying to raise my Tuskarr rep. I didn’t even realize a fishing rod is no longer needed to fish, that’s how long it’s been for me. Just looking for any tips to improve the efficiency or catch rate, if that makes sense. Total noob when it comes to fishing in game. What all should I be using?
Also, any fun fishing events to do?

I would suggest first the better fishing addon (wrong name maybe?). It lets you push a key to cast and same key to reel in without having to keep your mouse in place. It’s minor but if you’re fishing a lot it’ll add up.
Second I would say go straight to the new zones OR see if any fish from old content are valuable. There may be a fish that’s really good for mage tower food that still sells. Also the material for bone fish speed food sell at a decent price.

Yes that addon sounds like just what I need as I was clicking the bobber thinking “there’s gotta be a better way than this”. I’m going to get that right away.
You don’t need a fishing rod but it will improve what you catch, check out a fisherfriend in the AH. The green ones are pretty cheap. Enchanting it with perception, and using a perception potion from alchemy help too, but are probably only really necessary if you’re after coins of the isles.
I was wondering too. Does one just start from our respective Capitals or current expansion? My old extra bobber bait thingies don’t work. Do you just fish every expansion? I know, maybe, just start with first fishing quest in Capital - perhaps … for me I’m just confused on how to level?
I just did a couple of the Tuskarr WQs and every cast was basically a fishing level, even if I only caught junk. I’m not at my PC atm, but there is a dude you can speak to that gives you the ability to see pools of fish on your mini map as well.
Depends on the quest. There are fishing and fishing related quests you pick up from Tuskarr NPCs fishing along the rivers in The Waking Shores by the Ruby Life Pools that you complete and turn in. Also some to pick up in the main southwest Tuskarr village.
In the dragon isles just keep fishing also if you can see the tackle boxes get those. after you have at least 20 fish you can talk to Khuri in the waking shore at the ruby life pools and turn in a quest to get 100 rep. He has quests for each type of fish. After the first turn in it’s not worth it to turn in again until the next day.

Have a lot of patience, put on some form of music or a movie (if you can) regarding a movie. Sit back, relax, press that fishing button and work towards building up those fishing numbers.
Fishing in game is exactly like real life fishing in some ways. One of these is the importance of having a six pack of beer handy, as real life fishermen do.
I just fix it to a key I don’t use no addon needed. There not much to improve on I tried all of them in DF most don’t work like baits to get certain fish. Best advice fish in pools you get more when you near the end of this profession.
Hi there friend! I use Fishing Buddy and never heard of this. Using a single key would be awesome! I’m not sure if Fishing Buddy can do it but if not, I’ll have to check this one out. It’ll make it much easier to reel in my bites!
Hi there! Do you know if there’s an addon that can make a snag more obvious? I sometimes will zone out on a YouTube video and completely miss bites because I don’t hear or see the snag. If there was a much larger visual cue though, that’d be really neat.
On the fishing vendors you can buy and oversized bobber. After catching a 100 fish with it, it unlocks an achievement that gives you a toy which will increase the size of your bobber for an hour. It makes it a lot easier to click the bobber.
Check out the wowhead fishing guide. You can collect equipment that will increase your fishing skill. Poles, hats, temp bobber baits. I’m working on gathering stuff from other expansions to increase my fishing skill.
I have gloves, boots, a hat that increase my skill plus the pole. I’m trying to get some upgraded fishing line as well but been unsuccessful so far.
