Any reason to wear the annulet ring?

I got the ring at 424 ilvl with the bis gems for my class according to wowhead, however when i sim my character the use of the ring result in a dps lost, any reason to wear the ring or it was a total waste of time? empty patch?

If you simmed with Top Gear, sim again with Gear Compare as the former was not updated for primordial stones but the latter was.

If you simmed correctly, you might still hold onto it as the devs are likely to buff it, just don’t equip it until its actually an upgrade.

it gives you a tier sets worth of passive effects in combat

i think it’s great for outdoor activities

Depends on your current rings. If you are already ilvl 415+, the procs you get from the ring will likely not make up for the 1k+ loss of stats from your current rings.

I got it but dont know how to get it to 424.

Gota wear it cuz its a new feature bro

Oh, aNNulet.

slowly takes it off of his necklace…

I’m not great at simming and cant quite figure out how to compare. It says to add items to my empty gearset for comparison, but I cant figure out how to do it.

NVM. I figured it out. Your advice was very helpful. The Annulet IS a dps increase, regardless of every website saying to not equip it. According to my sim the annulet is a +1247 dps increase

Currently there is a very powerful combination that supposedly gives you 30% more damage regardless of spec, however there is a high chance it may be unintended / bug so it could get patched. I have no tested it yet, but I will tonight and see.

They said they’d buff it if it ends up weak.

Apparently the aoe build on my enh shaman is worse and is about 370 ilvl worth of a ring in aoe situations.

The cool thing is you can make a ton of rings though and have some for increased survivability while soloing.

ilvl upgrade for alts :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

huge DPS increase for my prot pally

This is it, and it’s definitely going to get patched. Pretty broken

Using it as item level fodder until I get to a decent level, will assess later.

Oh no. Not at all. I’m serious.

Do yourself a favor… go play a Retribution Paladin.

You’re welcome.

It’s not bugged. People just think because it’s strong and is a not-immediately-obvious interaction that it must be a bug, but the entire purpose of the twilight stone is to combine a DPS gem with a healing gem, it just happens that one of the healing gems happens to be mediocre enough for DPS to justify using it and getting access to the twilight gem which is the strongest synergy gems.

People who haven’t used it keep saying “It’s like playing with 4 DPS gems” and its like… no, it isn’t. It’s more like… 3.4 DPS gems? It’s better than 3 random DPS gems but it definitely is not like 4 DPS gems. The blood gem only does around 65-70% of what the lightning gem does in a key. Double that and then double the lightning gem and that’s where you’re sitting at.

I’ve run 4 keys with it, the ring does about 7-7.2k DPS on average across a key. That’s pretty solid but it isn’t unbeatable if you were to happen to be doing MDI pulls. The real kicker for a tank is that its doing strong DPS but also about 4% Leech worth of healing, offseting the loss of defensive value from secondaries. It’s a strong solid option with this combination, it feels like something that ought to exist in the game, but I do think it would be outgunned by an ilvl 447 socketed ring which seems like it is in the sweetspot of balance.

They still need to address its balance for DPS tho - it makes be good for tanks, but they need to figure out how to make it appealing for DPS.

Where did you read this?

Varies by toon… for my Alliance pally it’s just shy of +1,000 dps, but my Horde pally is better geared at it’s a -400 dps loss. That’s simming a 424 ring (3 fully upgraded stones as recommended on Wowhead).

It’s in the notes on any sim page for Raidbots. I quoted the text in the post below.

I’m pretty sure that means you won’t be able to add a list of stones to top gear and have it automatically generate combinations.

When I use top gear and gear compare with the same set of gems in each, it gave me basically the same result.
