I can’t remember exactly how long ago it was, but a dev answered this at like blizzcon or something, and basically said it is pretty unlikely cross region transfers are going to be in the cards anytime soon. I think one of the blues linked it on the forums at the time. But basically they’re aware of the desire for it but I think there are just some fundamental differences between regions that make it so transfers aren’t realistically gonna happen. Never say never of course.

There are a lot of complications preventing US and EU servers from being merged from a technical perspective and international exchange rates.

He also said that it’s not as simple as some players feel it is. If it were Blizzard would have done it already.

The two sides also share realm names. For most players that wouldn’t be an issue because they only play one, but it could complicate transfers.

The different Licenses were not built to allow this originally. That was before Battlenet. The NA and EU Licenses share realm names. I have Rufflebottom-Bloodhoof on both. It might make transfers complicated having the same realm names. Someone asked about it a couple years ago at Blizzcon. Ion Hazzikostas said it isn’t as easy a thing as players think it is. He never actually said they weren’t trying to do it.
