I got the urge to check out wrath again but with the token now in the game is there any point for honest players to even attempt to play this game again? I assume legit gold making avenues are scarce and prices for mats are in the gutter so it likely isnt worth earning gold the old fashioned way? I have never bought the token or illegitimate gold(nor do i plan to, ever) so any reason i should come back?

Gold is easy to make in wotlk.
Do the cooking daily and sell the spices on AH. Thats 20+g a day with a very easy quest.
Or the JC daily.
Or any daily.
Or farm instances.

I mean you do not need to make much gold to play the game. Unless you do GDKPs it doesn’t really concern you. Yes it does have ripple effect on some stuff in-game but I wouldn’t say it makes it unplayable, just pretty bad if you’re someone that doesn’t like having your time be put in money.

Mats are expensive. Inflation and whatnot. Lots of gold to be made by farming because of token and gdkp players throwing gold around.
bots make resource gathering, mat farming and dailies obsolete. I’ve made millions from flipping on the AH, but I try and avoid selling anything crafted by professions. Gold farmers will undercut within seconds. Undercut wars with items that have a… <5g profit margin. The only decent ways to make gold are anything AH related or soaking in GDKPs. Sad state tbh

The token had 0 effect its been 4k gold since the 2nd week it was released. If you played classic with gold buyers why cant u play the game with the token?

cuz i imagine theres an even bigger influx of whales now that they can buy it directly from blizzard without fear
Flying upgrades, skills train costs, dual spec…and pretty much it.
A kind of needed cost leveling to 70 is maybe AH boes. Don’t buy the 500 gold level 30 items and its okay.
At 70 you can pvp honor brutal gear to ride out to 80. I honor gear at 80 as well, pve’ers can do whatever tickles their fancy. Deadly with furious and unrated relentless works well enough for my casual lifestyle lol.
This is where my token money went. Not gdkp runs lol. Got token, took a say the whole level time BM hunter and caught up on SV and MM trains. She dual specs between MM and SV now. and flies faster!

Never bought gold, never been in a situation where I felt the need to even consider buying gold. While there is a problem with RMT in this game it is not nearly as wide spread or invasive as the chicken-littles on the forums would have you believe.
There is no reason to whale in WoW at all, classic or retail. Any gear/etc you can get 100% legit, nothing is locked behind pay walls and nothing requires you to RMT for gold.

You could clear storm peaks and icecrown at max level to pay for those, but yea by buying a token you’re saving yourself a lot of that time.
I don’t think you need any boe to level up, questing is very easy. Just make sure to get glyphs. You could get some cheap flask for leveling if you just want a bit more stats.

It varies. Sometimes it creeps up to 5400 the time I play. It is somewhat self adjusting. It creeps up when its 0400 to 0600 US Cali time.
This has been more my whitemane “fresh” horde start. Now atiesh has the alliance 80 quest runners. Atiesh is good for gold. Whitemane for horde I hated being poor.
I can spend $20 (hell 40) on a cabs on a night out with the boys. $20 for gold lasts much longer lol.
One token won’t even buy you fast flying.
If you join a GDKP and let’s say you want some 258 trinket, you gonna need to buy at least 14 tokens = $280.
No one actually blows that much on tokens. Swiping is cheaper lmao
Ofc people do buy tokens. But not in such quantity. It’s quite literally there only to get yourself going as a freshie. Or sell RMT/GDKP gold for gametime.
The token literally changes nothing for you if you don’t use it. Players that wanted to buy/sell gold were already doing so. GDKPs full of traded gold were already massive on mega realms long before the token came around. So this shouldn’t be a factor on whether you play or not.
Whatever your opinion is on the token, let’s not pretend its addition is what killed “legitimate” gold
Actually they’re running just over 5k gold right now (or, as of about a week ago anyway). I usually slip one in just to get fast flying for a new alt

I am still on the fence about s. priest. It was not liked leveling in (way easier) retail. Classic…is more of pita to me.
But I JJ it. Maybe the shadow form at 40 (10 more levels for me) turns this around. JJ with cta WSG this weekend should help.
S. priest to me seems to be A/S tier in pvp at all level ranges. I’ve seen twink ones tear it up.
It sucks when you are the one tore up though. But it is impressive none the less.

Seconding taking advantage of JJ. Usually the 50-58 range is where my alts go to die from boredom, but I was able to get my Hunter through that and into Outland today without too much hair pulling
