Any PC Guru's Review this Build?

What’s up fellow gamers. I was wondering if any of you PC guru’s could take a peak at my list and see if you would add/recommend anything additional? I will get a new Monitor later this year.

At the moment, Asus is having some real quality and customer service problems (See Youtube: GamersNexis, Hardware Unboxes, Jays2Cents…), so I would suggest that you consider other vendors for those components.
Unless you plan to over clock the CPU, you really don’t need the K versions, and that would save you a bit of cash.
Also, with the current advancements in air cooling, you might consider going that route. When a liquid cooling solution leaks, there are… issues.
RAM, power supply, SSDs and case look solid.

Looks like a prebuilt. Nothing glaring from the build.

*suggest switching to the AMD x3d chips if you gaming is your priority, especially if it’s WoW. Minimum FPS will be more consistent with the extra cache.

*do you need the pro series for storage?

*case looks nice but will be restricted airflow wise

*agree and disagree with the above person on AIO units. They are another point of failure but they don’t fail that frequently. You’re more likely to see the pump unit die/liquid gunk up and replacing it in 8-10 years.

Thanks for that! It’s not a pore built, Just put some things together on a PC builder Website. What mother board would you pick over Asus?

I don’t plan on over clocking, SO I can go down a notch from the K Series, Check.

case- Any Recommendations on a case?

Didn’t realize how expensive that board and AIO was. If I am looking at this right you’re spending almost $700 on the motherboard and AIO?

Brand wise MSI / Gigabyte / Asrock are good alternatives.

There is an airflow version of the case you’re looking at, if you like the case you can just go with that variant instead.

Whats the purpose of this system?

Gaming, Home Lab. something that will last me for the next 5+ years

Yes, I would go with MSI, Asrock & Gigabyte for components.
For an air based cooler, consider something like NZXT T120 RGB CPU Air Cooler. About $40.00. If you want more detailed analysis, consider GamersNexis late 2023 review of liquid and air coolers.
For the case, what size do you really want to go with?

  • Full tower
  • Mid tower or
  • -Small Form Factor?
Yes, I know you had a case before on the list, but what desk/floor space to you want to give to this PC?

Liquid coolers seem like more hassle and risk than they’re worth.

Not sure what your budget is but I recently went with a air cooled 4080S pre built that so far I’m very happy with. Was a replacement for 12 year old Win 7 system, so I was probably easy to impress.

Does WoW at 3440x1440, max settings @ 120 FPS no problem. Massive park in Planet Coaster at 3440x1440, max settings, 10k guests and can still build while the park is running which apparently is a situation that brings most rigs to their knees.

I’m a cheapo and too lazy to build my own system.

I found a decent one selling for just under $900 that had an Intel 13700 CPU with a NVDIA GPU 3060 12 gig VRAM and a 700 watt power supply.

Still waiting for the holidays. I think prices will come down a bit. Usually Amazon orders a ton of one decent system and puts it on sale.

I generally spend between $750 to $1000 and the system is good for 3 to 4 years.

Just my Two cents

  • CPU
    7800x3D
  • CPU Cooler
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 or 360
  • Motherboard
Asus ROG STRIX B650E GAMING-E WIFI (or the Strix X670 Gaming-E Wifi variant however you dont gain much by upgrading)
    Video of it
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1ZphcTuD2o
  • Memory
    G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30
  • Storage
    SABRENT 2TB Rocket 4 Plus NVMe 4.0 Gen4
Crucial P3 Plus 4TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe (same price as Sabrent 2TB)
  • Power Supply
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 (TRUE PCIE 5.0 PSU with native 12vhpwr port. No adpater needed)

The difference in wow between 7800x3D and Intel 14900k/14700k is night and day. These Results are at 4K max settings. So it will be more noticeable at a lower resolution

Backing what Taneez said.

Only things AI would change is the cooler. Corsair have straight up said they can’t be stuffed to fix the issue with their coolers (mostly an aesthetic thing if your going for that. ICue software wasn’t able to pick up the cooler, or if it did, would say it was faulty even right out of the box).
And windows.
Can not stress this enough, avoid 11 like it had rona.

What’s wrong with windows 11?

I use windows 10, windows 11 and linux mint daily between workstations and personal and haven’t had much issue with any.

If anything I am currently have some problems with windows 10 and all the annoying gadgets turning back on after a restart.

It had issues with with some games a while back but issues have been fixed. They actually run better on Windows 11 now over 10.

The issues had to do with windows schedular

Im aware of that, trying to figure out why these nay sayers are still roaming around.

They dont say updated. 9/10 times they have 0 information of their own are just repeating what they read some website over a year ago.

On a completely Side note: Since I’m probably only going to play WoW and do some lab sh*te, I’m assuming a mid-tier gaming laptop would work just fine as well?

Sort of? You can always drop down the settings or the resolution to have less issues. Also remember unlike other games that wow is very CPU intesive so the CPU in said laptop is going to matter more than the GPU on the Laptop

As an example me and a buddy have practically the same build except I’m on an RTX 4090 and he’s on the 4080. That is literally the only difference in our PC builds all other components are exactly the same. In any other game I obviously blow him away but in World of Warcraft our FPS no matter what we are doing is practically identical. Why? Our CPU and RAM is the same in World of Warcraft is a CPU based game

I agree 100% I was still going with the i7 or i9 14 Series with a 4080 and lots of Ram.

Yep, I have an i9 laptop and a 470 and it works just fine.
I went back to desktops for 3 main reasons, more upgrade ability, less fan noise under load and more hardware ports of all kinds.
On the laptop I would run out of ports and while I could add a dongle with more ports, it was a pain and lead to more cables in more places.
Just personal preferences
