Any other Solo Players out there?

I think its just basic tribalism… People either don’t like different so they want to “conquer” it into submission or they are afraid the other view point will impact what they want IE: “Solo players will ruin WoW”

I’m playing with other people. I’m just not grouping up to do it.

Not a solo player as I quite enjoy the social aspects including its ebbs and flows between patches and just life stuff happening but, I can still answer your post because of this:

Yes

If you wanna play a game, play that game - of course you’ll find “discussions” (I only put it in quotationmarks since on social media you’ll hear to no end about every single issue about anything ever, simply because that gets more views and clicks than posting anything constructive or positive) about stuff we enjoy

So honestly, if you enjoy the game that is literally all that matters - you do what you wanna do to enjoy it and as long as you aren’t negatively affecting other players (think griefing or harassment) then … You do you, and be happy doing it
It ain’t gotta be more complicated than that

I was technically Playing with other people when I was spam killing Alliance in open world in BFA farming the Alliance Slayer title. Was not an easy one to get. You had to do so without dyeing.

If a game permits you to play alone, it’s a single-player game. WoW can be an MMO. Literally nobody is forcing you to play with others, and you can still pay your sub and play alone.

So just from a simple epistemological A=A standpoint, you’re mistaken.

You did notice that MMORPG does NOT include the word Cooperative…right?

Yeah, I know. We get enough of the us vs. them nonsense out in the world; it’s a shame it has to follow us into our hobbies.

Yes. Move on to GW2 with the rest of us who have outgrown this games endless gear treadmill that recycles itself now literally every friggin patch.

Listen, I went to Gw2 reluctantly because at first the graphics made me wanna throw up.

After giving it a fair chance, I was frankly blown away. Not only are ALL zones still relevant (not just the latest expansion zones) but there are literally players EVERYWHERE. It felt like an actual MMO with players doing group activities everywhere because of the nature of the open world questing and metas.

When I flipped over back to Wow, I just sat there looking at it like, what the heck is there to do really? I don’t like having alts, I don’t like feeling like the old world except the latest 5-6 zones are completely irrelevant to my character. I don’t like this Q for everything mentality…and PvP is totally inaccessible unless you have a ton of time to put into it.

In GW2 you literally jump into WvW or jump into the PvP lobby and poof, you’re in. THAT’S IT. No gear farming requirements, just jump in and have fun!!

My sub lapses in 29 days after I did a 6 month renewal. GW2 is just the better game at this point unless all you care about is mythic+ and raiding.

I tried GW2. It just doesn’t scratch the itch like WoW does.

Like the song, that one lady sang, said:

“If it makes you happy, it cant be that baaAAaad!”

Nah see, that was my problem initially, and it’s because I approached the game totally wrong. I brought my previous MMO preconceptions of how I should play into it and it ruined it the first few times I tried it…it wasn’t until I approached it like its own unique thing and left my idea of what an MMO was behind that it finally just clicked…

like roaming around on your raptor in the open world and just stumbling on events going on and helping out other players just felt right…dare I say it almost brought me back to my star wars galaxies days (but nothing will ever top that).

most who say “i tried it” didn’t really try it.

I’m so tired of these entitled “solo players” taking up bandwidth not playing the game as it was intended and designed to be played!

Same. Just wasnt for me. I still have fun in wow its just the Patronizing from other players has gotten bad lately. So I was wondering “how alone in my play style I truly am”

relateable…

as you get older, you have less and less patience for things…
you also have obligations, and gaming is a far secondary to those obligations…

I can relate to this whole-heardedly… once upon a time I was in a top 50 in the world guild, and was a world first raider, for awhile, then a server first raider for many many years after that…

but now I am an old man, I have a wife, kid, full time job… I don’t have the time to be able to dedicate to a raid, and I especially don’t have the patience to watch people die for the 30th time to the same braindead easy mechanic…

so like you for many years now, I have been a lone wolf, I log in do my stuff… get bored, log into another toon do their stuff, get bored and then log off, lol.

you are not alone man, and you certainly don’t need anyone’s permission to play however TF you want to play, lol.

I’m in a similar boat, I stopped doing PvE ages ago.

Folks ask why I’m still here- I enjoy the PvP, but not as much as I used to.

Pretty much hanging on for next patch having ranked solo queue for bgs, but if that doesn’t pan out, idk if I’ll be playing WoW anymore.

Best part about this… These days if all the solo players did as you asked and bailed… WoW would absolutely collapse.

While i did enjoy GW2 a lot, the NPCs are stupid.

“What the?? The Centaurs invaded your town Again? I just saved you all 5 minutes ago!”

If you are having fun and are not intruding on others, thats really all that matters.

How do you know that?? Oh that’s right, you DON’T
