What in the world are you talking about?
So I have mained frost DK since I was able to (didnât play every exp, but always have done with frost DK). The thing that troubles me the more is why there is a 2h in the loot pool, cause if Iâm playing frost, and since everyone already stated out, and the dps logs show that dw is better, even if just a tinny bit, I absolutly would like to dw only, cause even if less then 5% of the playerbase is really competitive, people always tend to go to the meta, that always will happen in any game.
Maybe there could be a loot restriction where Frost DK only drop 1h, but frost dk could use 2h (just not on the loot pool), then if someone wanted to 2h just chance the loot spec to UH and all is good. I donât really know if thatâs even possible with how loot is structured but itâs an idea. Btw I also think much more on the thematic of 2h being the coolest for frost dk, and was realy bumed out when it was dw restricted, but thatâs the game I guessâŚ
TLDR: Just change the loot pool so frost can use 2h but can only drop 1h
I agree with this. I am currently dw frost for pve mainly due to it being better than 2h atm.
Once we have more stats, maybe 2h will see some play. But I know the feeling. Feels so bad to have a 2h drop from a boss when you really wanted that 1handed weapon.
As usual with every expansion I start off wanting to play frost and then by the time the frust raid pops out I give up and go back to unholy.
I think the only time outside of wrath that I played frost was in legion, but ever since I end up always going to unholy
This is partly why I would vote for DK going back to 2h only. Trying to get weapons is such a pain. I play 2h frost and blood and even trying to get one decent ilvl wep has been tough let alone trying to get 3.
2h can be tuned/design to be better than DW is. It just isnât. DW has an advantage of faster attack speed but the benefit of a slower swing speed hitting harder based on weapon speed has been removed from designed and replaced with straight attack power numbers. Those numbers can still be adjusted.
DK was never 2h only to go back to. Trying to get weapons for Frost is only a pain because 2h was added back and flooded the loot pool. You canât make a suggestion to bring something back and then complain about the situation that you created and the solution for you is to remove how the spec was designed in order to fix a problem you guys caused.
Also, DW hit harder than 2h did. The argument you are trying to make is a 1h does less damage, and it does but DW uses 2 weapons in itâs strikes which brings DW to the level of a 2h and why 2h was never used in Wrath by anyone that was serious about playing Frost.
DW still attacks with both weapons on Obliterate and Frost Strike so whatever you are talking about about is entirely moot. Damage calculations arenât just straight attack power either. For people that say I drove Biceps from the forums (I had him on ignore) you guys never actually listened to him because there was a conversation about how damage numbers are calculated for abilities even DW. Weapon DPS comes into play and when calculated for DW the main hand does roughly 75% of a 2h and the offhand does the other 25% making your claim entirely wrong. Itâs always worked like this since 3.2 and Nerves of Cold Steel made DW hit harder than 2h. We JUST went through Wrath Classic and no one was playing 2h Frost. I think I seen 1 person in a dungeon play 2h Frost and they got completely destroyed by everyone.
Frost makes DW a 2h with the benefits of having 2 weapons. Why do you think MotFW exists in the state that it does along with people still screaming about needing to put 2 runeforges on their weapon. Either the gap is so small between the 2 that a 2nd runeforge is trying to make Frost a 2h spec because of DW bigotry and revisionist history, or 2h is still bad after all that work for 2 expansions.
I always thought UH fit better with DW (back in Wrath). The fast, smaller hits fit better with the constant DOT ticks, and multiple pet sources.
As far as Arthas goes, he is the OG. He has no spec. We all follow his lead the best we can, but he didnât need to spcialize, he could just do it all. He wasnât frost or UH, he was the template all DKs try to achieve, because he was every spec all at once.
Then why didnât Arthas do it all?
Whener anyone says Arthas was Frost then it shows they have literally 0 investment in the class because of they did they wouldnât utter something so blatantly false.
The vast vast majority of what Arthas did was Unholy.
He did Apocalypse (different than the artifact weapon ability but not Blood or Frost)
Necrotic plague
Shadow trap
Defile
Summon Valks
Summon other undead
Then the Frost based abilities were remorseless winter and some icy sphere. Are people using that old time racist talking point that if itâs 1 drop of blood then you are that race where if you use 1 Frost ability then you are Frost? Or are people just ignorant to Arthas and confidently talk BS then run away when they get called out on it?
Absolutly itâs a pain.
I do see how difficult it would be to tune back the 2h weappon tho, cause FDK who use 2w have been playing like that for way longer than 2h (not considering legendary weappon) so probably they are more used to 2w, also the kit is more âefficientâ for 2w because of the atk speed/buff stacks that are vital for FDK so changing to 2h only would prob break the class fludity a bit, but my point is if we could still use 2h, but not on the loot pool, if you want 2h change loot spec to UH and then youâre happy with a 2h , and Iâm happy getting 1h with frost loot spec, that is simillar to what Furry war can do to get only 2h weappons changing loot spec to Arms.
The numbers could be ajusted to make 2h efficient but I donât rly think the balancing team wants to do it, since they had way too much time and never did it
Exactly!!
The thing if people want so bad to see a 2h on their back when playing frost, maybe if they could transmog 2w to 2h, the problem could be kinda sorted out, but indeed the base kit of FDK is and always was better with 2w.
At the end of DF, 2h was feeling very fluid. The inflated stats allowed us to have a decent amount of natural km procs and overall felt really solid to play. Obviously DW reaches that point of fluidity faster with itâs naturally faster attacking speed but its button presses feel less impactful than 2h.
Overall I prefer a more impactful feeling from pursuing buttons than a spammy 200apm DW play style for frost. Breath builds definitely feel better with more spammy gameplay though, but breath had never been my cup of tea.
I think itâs pretty much the core issue of the 2h vs DW debate. People ultimately want different things when it comes to the speed of the spec. 2h enjoyers prefer less but more impactful presses, and DW want high APM death by 1000cut experience. And even though historically DW has been favoured in tuning of the spec, that can easily change.
Youâre just mad iâm right, traitor.
I agree with you, my problem is DW being better than 2H, this is a sin.
You are so wrong you canât even see the issue lol.
DW has been better than 2h in Wrath, Cata, MoP, 2h was on par in Highmaul but got dumpstered in HFC, couldnât even use a 2h in Legion or BFA, it was better then 2h in SL where you needed a 2h that was 20ilvl higher than DW.
So realistically you have a DW where 2h was on par or better than the intended play (which should never happen) in 1 raid tier and part of DF.
The sin is adding 2h back and now trying to make 2h like DW to make the spec âweapon agnosticâ which you just make it a transmog option and you donât have to do this dumb design crap to force a weapon in that doesnât belong.
