That literally already exists. IDT has a 100% proc chance for 2h and a 50% proc chance for DW on crit.
Should’ve happened after Legion.

I’ll be damned, guess they fixed it from when I last tested on the beta. Still think it should get the obliterate treatment then where it does more damage cause you still get way more procs of it on dual wield.
By that logic, DW has 4 runeforges. FC, RI, SS, and “attack speed”. MotFW can be considered compensation to Killing Machine procs due to attack speed, or as a “runeforge” compensation, cant really count it as both.
It shouldn’t
The way to give parity for 2h is to remove all the bandaids and make MoTFW:
Anything else is just wasted design time at this point instead of just addressing the root problem. They could also pull away from the auto-attack talents & effects but that’s been pretty quintessential to Frost’s identity since the start.
What? MotFW is the answer to DW second runeforge. Blizzard said as much when they brought it back in.
And you can absolutely count it as both because it attempts to address both. Higher Obliterate damage which people asked for, and KM proc increase.
Attack speed isn’t a runeforge and can’t even be considered a runeforge because it’s inherent to having 2 weapons.
oh ok i see good to know ty
Gonna be honest 2h is not that far behind imo if you take the right talents. The bandwagon for dw went so hard this xpac for some reason. Last sims i did showed a 7k difference with 4 piece
It’s 3%, and you’re correct it isn’t that far behind for 99% of players in 99% of content.
But in cutting edge content (week 1 heroic raid, early season/CE Mythic raids, early season M+ pushing, higher (12+) M+ pushing) 3% is definitely “far behind”, enough where it will actually matter.

It’s not a bandwagon, it’s just facts that all variants of DW - Breath, Shattering, and non-Breath non-Shattering - are ahead of 2h by a solid amount, which is entirely relevant for difficult content. If you’re getting a sub 1% spread then you have ridiculously poor 1hs or you’re setting the sims up poorly. That’s all there is to it.
Key word here is attempt. It tries to act as a remedy for both, but unless there is a special 2H proc weapon/legendary, or a tier set that just so happens to prefer 2H, 2H inherently will just be worse then dual wield because all of the cap stones aside from Obliteration benefit far more from the attack speed compared to 2H and MotFW increase damage/proc. It might be trying to act as a replacement, but with the direction they are taking Frost, it probably needs an update cause 2H will just fall further behind unless a special weapon or tier is available.
It’s a DW spec so 2h should be worse. It’s always been a DW spec.
Not to mention this is what the 2h players wanted.
It’s only a DW spec blizzard has made it this way.
Obviously, based on this thread, there are those that don’t want it that way.
I’ve played WoW for a very long time and I never liked the idea to try and force Frost to be DW, it doesn’t fit the lore.
I would very much like to see them at least tune 2H Frost so that is on par with DW Frost.
Arthas was very much a Frost DK and Frostmourne was very much a 2H sword…
Wrong on both counts. Frostmourne is a hand and a half sword. if it was a dedicated two-hander, Arthas could not have used it singlehandedly on horseback.
Arthas was Lich King, he was if you had every single DK talent from every single tree. And then some.
You want to look at when he was a DK in warcraft three his abilities line up more with Unholy due to how few abilities Warcraft 3 units had. If we look at him in HotS? Yeah there he has way more frost stuff. But that is one instance aside from the larger whole.
Strong Frost Aesthetic =/= Frost Spec.
Of course I expect Kelliste is about to regurgitate all of that with a lot more hostility and then call you stupid for getting it wrong. Be prepared.
How do you get 3 rineforges? I know of 2 with duel wield
Fallen Crusader, Stone Gargoyle and Razorice from Arctic Assault, Glacial Advance and Avalanche talents.
All the Dual Wielders who opposed 2H from getting 2 Runeforge by trying to argue that MotFW was a Runeforge in and of itself now have nothing to argue with.
It’s always been a DW spec. It’s not like Blizzard just decided out of nowhere recently to make it a DW spec. It’s always been a DW spec.
And what lore? You better not say Arthas because it’s already been proven Arthas was primarily Unholy.
2h should not be on par with DW. It’s a DW spec and if you put 2h on par or better than DW, congrats you just created a noob trap.
No, we aren’t trying to argue that MotFW is the second runeforge BLIZZARD SAID IT WAS. That is why they brought it back, it was a note on MotFW when it returned.
2h has access to 3 runeforges as well. FC, RI and passive Obliterate damage and KM proc increase through MotFW.
Wrong, it would the complete opposite, it would be a buff to 2H and buff to fun.
Delete DW already, it’s cringe.
Stay on ret. Frost is a DW spec, quit with whatever you are doing here.
I dislike dw on DKs too, but I don’t mind it staying for those that enjoy it as long as it’s not a massive detriment to 2h gameplay.
Motfw was supposed to be more than just a runeforge. It was supposed to close the difference of FC plus Auto attack km proc discrepancies.
Crap like this is exactly why these forums suck.
Someone thinks that what they say is what matters most and they just try to pummel others into submission.
Kelliste, get a life.
