Are customer support personnel not allowed to say they can’t answer that question specifically?

The reason I ask is if I ask a specific question I will often not get the answer to my question but the answer to a question that is adjacent to mine.

For example. If I ask what the criteria for how many Burgeoning Furors I’ll get in my war chest is they will respond with other information about Burgeoning Furors but not actually answer to my question.

I’m not asking the community for the answer to the Burgeoning Furors. It’s just an example. Is the support system AI driven where it just picks up key words and responds with the most common answer? I only ask because a person would easily be able to make the distinction and answer the question specifically.

That’s a game hint. They’re expressly forbidden from providing those.

Keep on this track and you’ll see how quickly you get no help at all. Attacking other humans is a bad practice all around.

How is that an attack? Are you saying perceived attacks even if not intended as such will make the user blacklisted from customer support?
All I was asking is are some of the responses AI driven because that would make sense of why some answers don’t respond to the specifics of the question.

Tickets are answered by actual people, not AI. That being said, answers that don’t quite fit cane come about through misunderstanding the question or being unable to provide game hints.

That depends on the question, also, they are not allowed to provide game hints.

Possibly. I’ll just keep refining my question then to help avoid those misunderstandings.

Because your question is considered a game hint, which they do not provide. However, they likely directed you to a third-party site like Wowhead for more information about the items, or gave you what info they could, even if it didn’t quite fit.

It is not AI driven. However, there are times when Support staff could answer many similar tickets with a template answer. This is done through keyword searches, yes, but it’s done by an actual human. However, sometimes the template doesn’t 100% fit your particular question.

The overall answer is that they cannot give game hints.

Generally they will give a hint without actually answering the question when they can not answer the question specifically. They will suggest third-party sites or the forum.

That indicates that they can not answer the question directly. GMs are not allowed to give game hints.

There is no support system AI. All tickets are answered by a human being.

They may be able to make the distinction, but is does not mean they would be able to answer the question specifically.

In your example, the forums or Wowhead would be good sources for information. The same for any questions about where something is, how to do a quest, drop-rate of items.

Templates are used to give players the same information, not as an indication of an AI being used. Players used to compare answers and try to read between the lines because it appeared that one player was being given what appeared to be more information than another.

In this case they didn’t refer to a third-party site. However before even putting in the ticket I researched the web for the answer. Unfortunately the answers conflicted. Some people say you have to win at least one match in your highest rated arena for the week and others say you don’t. For instance the highest upvoted answer on wowhead says you don’t but a lot of others say you do. I was hoping customer support could give a final verdict.

That’s completely understandable, but they cannot through a ticket.

You could try asking the @WarcraftDevs Twitter account. They may give a little more insight there. I know they answered me once, when I asked about Blingtron gifts, way back in the day.

Unfortunately in this case they didn’t. Which led me to believe they misunderstood the question so I refined it hoping I will soon receive a more accurate answer. But it sounds like from this thread most people agree it’s a game hint that can’t be given. I’ve often received answers that didn’t quite answer the specific question so I wanted to pose it here to see why this happens so often.

I would take your question to the PvP forum. Almost guarantee you will get your answer there.

Someone asked the same question in the pvp forums and was trolled endlessly. I doubt I’m going to be received any better. Here’s what I will do. I don’t have rating in another bracket other than 2v2 so I’ll just not do any matches but still cap my conquest and report back how many Furors I got.

You’ll want to make sure you post that report in the PvP forum, as it’s highly unlikely anybody would be looking for that information in this forum, or under this particular topic title.
