Another reason Blizzard is losing employees

Yes, thank you!

What I find ironic about all of this is that the people acting like this is destroying livelihoods are the same types that leapt at the chance of reporting a small business for defying lockdowns and other covid measures a short time ago.

Now pretending to be concerned about the financial well being of others when they gleefully participated in destroying it over the last few years.

Why you say that? because purple hair “lady” left?

Said it before, you can tell who the supervisors are in this thread :joy:

this is surprising or new how? it’s always been this song and dance the new gen has always been scrutinized like this and sure some of it is true young people are great at being jerks but I find generational tribalism isn’t anything new, once gen z gets older they’ll be saying the same thing about the next ones as well.

Got a feeling that being gen z is going to be a rough time in their mid-life crisis phase. When they have to come to terms with the social engineering that worked on them being nullified by the following generation it’s going to be pretty tragic. Try to be kind to them.

I mean…not too kind, that’s what they expect now, but kind enough.

I’d imagine people just use it as a stepping stone to get into better companies.

Good, there used to be a reason people stayed which were company benefits, pensions, ect. Those have been eliminated at large, if the business isn’t looking out for the people working at it, then the people working have no obligation to look out for the business.

Being in one of the few states without an income tax is fantastic. Wouldn’t trade it for any amount of the high crime, low opportunity, and insanely expensive cost of living provided by Cali.

It is really not a big deal plus they are reducing the salaries of anyone who moves to CA that is currently remote to prevent overpaying for the same talent.

No, no they wont. Just look to GD to see that!

Yeah they will. When the next generation grows up with a grasp of reality, decent values, and the ability to do their own taxes while Gen Z mid-lifers have passed their prime without finding love on a dating app, they are going to be pretty cross with them.

At this point, I think that’s the best option.

I’m not that familiar with the industry but surely there are better companies out there? I don’t mean to be rude to those who reside in the state but California is a nightmare for living a financially stable life.

You sound like someone being forced to go to the office and instead of wanting change, you’d rather everyone else suffer with you.

My point was that when you misrepresent the position you’re hiring for, it makes you a bad employer. Omitting facts about future plans is the same as lying. Hiring remote workers knowing you’ll demand they either move closer or quit in 2 years is wrong when you fail to tell them that upfront. Instead, Blizzard chose to trick people by design.

And just for the record, I drive to the office 5 days a week, do the commute thing, and live in a really expensive metro. I have no issue with being in the office, but I do have an issue with a company taking advantage of its workers to make a buck.

No issues living in CA on my 750K year Senior Software Engineer salary. Not sure what the problem is really.

It’s easier to spot the jealous little guys who never did anything with themselves so they blame everyone and everything else for their failures.

Kiper. It’s not nice to talk about yourself like that…

lol nah, if I was at the bottom of the totem pole living paycheck to paycheck I’d spend my free time in college or trade school doing something with my life. I wouldn’t have time for hobbies or games. I’ve always wondered why people accept a life like that, to each their own.
