Zereth Ordus

Thanks for posting this here and also
As I said on Discord:
So does any of this explain why the death realm is full of protolife if there are actually more of these stupid things? Shouldn’t those be in Zereth Vitae or whatever?
Also we are just going full on in with ruining the Titans in every way possible now, huh?
Wow, so…
-
The Black Empire had “advancements,” like any other civilization, and the Titans wanted to hide it out of fear of the mortals learning about it. It being pure chaos is propaganda.
-
The Titans hid the knowledge of the First Ones.
-
Life is Chaos? Life has an association with Fel?
Odyn did disagree with the Titans about the viability of the dragon aspects to defend Azeroth. Is he picking and choosing which of the Titans’ edicts to follow?
wot in ternation
Not sure why any of you are surprised about other Zereths. They were mentioned in 9.2.
We’ve long established Odyn is a terrible guy and he’s being terrible again, but his conception of “order” isn’t like “robots are the best”, it’s all “I should be in charge”. The man loves feasting and partying. This book doesn’t match his persona at all beyond being bossy.
I knew it existed i was just (foolishly) hoping Blizzard would take the hint from SL’s reception and never bring them up again.
Yeah he was totally cool with both flesh vrykul and player races in Legion. He even has a vrykul alt form as Havi. Robot supremacy was never his thing, his thing was just “everyone has to obey me”.
I was absent between 9.1 and 9.2 so I hadn’t caught up to that.
Wow, this third one reads a lot like Odyn instructing the writing of Chronicles to basically lie about what happened during the Black Empire. I love this development.
“flesh is his gift, he is your true creator.” makes a lot more sense now.
“Attribute all accomplishments and works of wonder to the Titans alone.” JC, wow, it will be hard to not see the Titans as evil Authoritarian overlords after this.
Considering we learned about the First Ones and have been to Zereth Mortis, I’m rather curious on Odyn thoughts on the matter. Has he accepted it or is he pissed about it and has dismissed any talk from his Vrykul as lies of Death.
He murdered his beloved daughter Heyla and twisted her form into the first Val’kyr. The book matches his description just fine. He may have mellowed out a bit but he is very much of the opinion that he alone knows what best and should be followed.
Progenitors> The Makers > The Titans > The Constellar> The Titan Keepers/Watchers
Is that right?
“It’s enough that Titans brought Order to the Cosmos.” If Titans brought order than the Cosmos was born in Chaos. the Progenitors are Darkness and Necessity just like Ovid’s Metamorphoses mythology that the Titans and Shadowlands are based on.
The Void is the source of all. The Eyes of the Earthmother fairytale is right, that’s the best myth source we have about the First Ones.
That isn’t the part I’m objecting to at all. Odyn being a terrible, domineering guy is very consistent.
My bad, so what exactly is your objection?
I’m relying partially on other things posted by Porter in conjunction with this topic that really are pushing the concept that Titans are actively hostile against the very concept of free will or any kind of independence altogether (as opposed to it simply having been outside of their plan/comprehension, which I would argue was the earlier take). Odyn absolutely is a domineering boor and always has been, but he doesn’t appear to have any nominal objections to the concept of free will or (crucially) enjoyment of life and actually encourages quite a bit of independence on your part in Stormheim. It’s part of what makes him feel like a real person – or even a real god – with likable sides even if he’s ultimately horrifying. He gives off big hedonism vibes, even, within certain constraints.
It’s one of those things where, sure, I suppose you can explain it some sort of way as character development but given how stable most other hyper long lived personalities are without invoking corruption, it reads more like existing lore is being bent to a new, dumb purpose rather than being built on.
or the Odyn we have now is not the same person as the Odyn who wrote this.
Odyn’s been acting really fishy since we released him from his prison. I don’t think it was just out of revenge Helya banished him to his own pocket dimension. maybe she was trying to keep something else contained. The first thing he wanted to do when freed was visit Ulduar (I read that somewhere in BFA, probably Wowpedia but now I can’t find it sourced anywhere)
Any further dissent may cause me to question whether you have succumbed to outside influences.
Well, I guess we know what his last words to Loken were or at least could guess…
but yeah I think Odyn may have succumbed to some outside influences himself. In hindsight Loken doesn’t seem like the bad guy anymore.
The chronicles being from a unrealiable point of view makes sense now that we know the titans are actively hiding information from everyone.
Makes one wonder what else they conveniently forgot to mention
I’m pretty sure there’s a conversation in the end of OG Uldaman where the watcher in the Discs’ room says the titans approved of the fleshy dwarves and considered them worthy successors to the earthen.
They sure didn’t seem to mind us in Antorus either.
it’s just blatantly not how they have ever been portrayed in the past.
You know, titans like any god like being, are capable of lying and being deceptive without anyone realizing it.
Just something to consider
