So it was brought to my attention that someone was getting 2+ hour queues in BG Blitz. I was wondering how this was possible but it seems they went on a win streak of 8 games and are now at 2k MMR. That is an issue. There is probably almost nobody playing at the MMR right now and probably won’t be many for the season. For a few reasons, and not because nobody likes BG Blitz or it has the lack of healers like RSS has for queues.
One of my worries with BG Blitz having MMR but also not having any of the perks or rewards that rated has, was a situation like this. BG Blitz also doesn’t count towards many of the weekly quests either. So once you get the 4 games for the quests, you probably don’t have many reasons to do it. I even looked wins do not cowards towards unrated achievements at the moment anyway, even though you do get some other achievements from it. If we want BG Blitz to be tested you can’t attached MMR to it and also then ad no real incentive to do it.
Not everyone is like me and will just play it, especially with so many options that give rewards. You need to do something to give people a reason to spam it. My main suggestion is it needs to count towards vault and probably loosen up the match making. You are removing PvP from the vault in the next major patch/expac anyway. Let’s give people a reason to spam it for the rest of this expansion for testing. It’s hard to figure out a good MMR/rating/ladder system for it when you don’t have anyone taking it seriously. Hopefully we have some more things for it come 10.2.5 or sooner.
Nobody should ever be sitting in a queue longer than 10 minutes for a mode you need/want tested, never mind queues for 2+ hours. It doesn’t even give them an estimated time for queue anymore.
The MMR for Blitz is all over the place. One match I’ll be on a 1700 team, then the next a 1350 team. 1300 teams matched up against 1600 teams. Some characters start their first Blitz at 1500, some at 1350.
ATM, it just looks almost random. We need to be able to see our own personal MMR in order to give proper feedback on this system because right now it makes close to zero sense.
I do think in the end they will have to have very flexible and lenient match making rules in order to have reasonable queue times. I don’t think the format will ever work as a tightly restricted fine tuned matching system. I do think it can work to help make it so new players fight other new players and vets fight vets.
I agree, but the mode also needs to be tested. This person got punished for winning 8 matches in a row, which could have just come down luck and now gets no queues. 2k MMR right now in BG Blitz is omega high imo. But ya the MMR is all over the place. Something needs to be done where you can have a personal MMR but also be able to test the game mode.
Yeah, I’ve won and have been placed on a lower MMR team the next match quite a few times. But, that is team MMR not your personal MMR. You could have gained personal MMR but got placed on a team with much lower overall MMR. But, that is ONE HELL OF A SPREAD.
We need to see our personal MMR so we can report stuff that looks way off.
There are people playing at 2K MMR, though. How did they get there? Are they getting MMR in Blitz based off of their MMR in arena, SS or rated BGs perhaps?
This is kind of my whole thing. In a brawl it should never be an issue. There is MMR playing a factor some how. How I am not sure though I have not seen a difference in 300 MMR between matches mine does always seem to however between 1450 and 1550ish no matter the toon I have been on. I will admit I haven’t payed a ton of attention though but now I will. I just know there are people at 2k and are having queue issues.
I also think we might have personal rating it is just hidden. When this mode first hit the PTR it showed both MMR and CR and it was was removed latter on because obviously it wasn’t going to be a rated mode. But it would make sense for it to still be there but hidden if they want to see how this mode would work on ladder like they had mentioned.
5 game win streak on an alt, then sat in queue for 45 minutes before giving up. The last win of that streak was 19xx mmr, so probably ~ 2k after the win.
Logged in the next day and had a queue pop within average time. Didn’t note the wait time but it was definitely not more than 10 minutes. My team’s mmr for that match 1400 something. This was on the same alt that was on a team average of 1900+ just 18 hours prior with no queues between the jump.
Seems like the mmr isn’t truly mmr in the sense we’re used to yet. I’d be curious to know what happens follow up days for this friend of yours
So that 10v10 I see on the official forums is rated battlegrounds?
If it is, it’s pretty sad there not a single person is playing a feral druid. Like 80% are balance spec and the other 20% are resto and guardian. Yea, there are more guardians than ferals.
Good job Blizz.
Been saying it for a long time. Feral is okay in a small 3v3 arena, but once the groups increase in size, feral is awkward because so much depends on getting damage from stealth.
Also, a lot of ferals strengths were negated because of fast traveling mounts and see through stealth orbs.
Hope they do something before blitz does become official.
Won’t some people say they are more skilled, and if it’s true then they should wait longer to play other people similarly skilled. However, if they are willing to say it’s just a lucky win streak and it’s not about skill I guess it might make sense to ‘loosen matchmaking.’ But I don’t have sympathy for the “No it’s muh skillz” type of people.
I do think it should count towards vault but still be unrated.
Doesn’t really matter what people attribute their success or failures to.
At the end of the day, all ranges of mmr need to have queues popping or the R1s will just make alts and terrorize lower brackets - which probably will or is already happening - but would be at least partially mitigated if 1900+ mmr ranges didn’t have 2 hour queues.
If no one can get a match in the 1900 range then this entire thing will be dead on arrival of the true rated format.
My mistweaver’s games sit between 1850-2k average MMR, and teams are usually within 100 MMR of eachother. I get insta pops on that character every time because it is a healer, but I hardly hear anyone complain about bad wait times once we are in the game.
Who knows, could be some wonky “You have high MMR on this class (DH) and you are number 10000 in a queue of DHs trying to join”
Well tonight was different. I had 6 or 7 Blitzes in a row ranging between 1850-2000 rating. Both teams where within 50 MMR of each other for each match.
Only strange thing is that the last match we won around 1950, but the match after that was back into the mid 1800s.
I didn’t have any abusive timers. Everything was 5-10 minutes. So, either they have tweaked somethings or there is some kind of “placement system” where you don’t start stabilizing until after x matches played.
I’m cycling thirteen characters so none of them have a lot of matches played individually, except the one I focused on today.
I almost think MMR is kind of random. And maybe sometimes the way it’s set up places people in a place with no one else. Be nice to know how it works rofl.
Not sure it’s random. When I won 7 in a row it went up appropriately from about 1540 to 1980 or so. When I lose it also goes down appropriately. I’m just confused why they show team rating and no personal rating. Am I the reason the team is highly rated or the loser on the team that is holding it back from a higher rating?
Ya Idk it doesn’t make a lot of sense, seeing personal rating would solve that. But I also know why it doesn’t show personal rating, because right now it’s non rated. Think they are trying to keep as much of the rated out of it as they can.
