But more notes for warlocks, mages, and DKs, thank goodness!
It would be really nice if Blizzard could communicate anything at all as far as their development schedule or strategy, because it appears that certain classes and specs get a ton of attention and fine tuning while others get left on the dusty shop floor.
I’m usually a wait and see person but the sheer amount of detail and more importantly lengthy dev notes and blue posts given to other specs vs the complete void shaman and hunter are being left in right now is pretty unacceptable.
I’m not looking to argue lol… I’m just (and have always been) stating the obvious.
Shaman have been ignored for nearly two decades now. And it continues.
Not sure why all the hostility towards me (in the past) anyway. We obviously both want the same thing. Shaman to receive the attention they deserve. Be honest, if you didn’t love shaman as well, you wouldn’t be hanging out in their class forums, right?
Also, there’s nothing to really derail. The topic is simply about Shaman receiving no notes…which isn’t even opinon, but rather fact.
By the time we receive notes - the question becomes: Will we even have enough time to properly test, give feedback on any changes, and get adjustments that are also play-tested (like other classes are getting)?
Feel free to point out what part, of what I said - you disagree with - and think there could be an argument about though lol.
At this point shamans are either getting absolutely nothing or a massive overhaul that the devs aren’t ready to talk about. There really is no other explanation.
Unfortunately, if there was a massive overhaul in the pipeline they would likely want testing time and feedback (which we’re running low on time for), so it appears the question has answered itself.
You missed the 3rd option. They will make some big-ish change(s) that vaguely/tangentily impact issues we have and make other things worse. Then we will get a follow up patch that barely touches the new issues, but doesn’t do enough to fix them and makes other things worse. Then we will get told “No more major changes due to upcoming launch”. With the new expansion release cadence that means we won’t get fixed all expansion, normally it would be 1/2way or more through the expansion, so cut to next Alpha/Beta where we repeat the shaman cycle of 3 options but other specs are on their nth rework.
I mean - that’s fine. When I see the classes with the highest representation currently that also just got reworked getting all the attention in TWW, something isn’t right.
That said - we’re not talking about some small company with a few devs. We’re talking about a $74B USD company. There’s no reason all classes that need attention shouldn’t get it.
I agree with you, Avih. Its getting pretty crazy. Hunters are being ignored, but at least the devs told hunters that they have no changes planned. They won’t even look in our direction.
I think at this point we can just assume that Blizzard sees Shaman as business-as-usual for TWW. They have been putting work into all the classes/specs that they thought needed attention, we’re just not on that list.
I would be happy to be proven wrong but I don’t have the optimism of some of y’all who are still thinking that they are saving a big Shaman rework until after they do multiple rounds of comprehensive updates to other classes. I expect a few tweaks for sure, but nothing that will compare to what the favorite specs have already gotten.
