Any raid leader with brains can “policy” the run wether it’s gdkp or not.
But I think the words you are looking for it gatekeeping
No anybody could come as long as they had at least a blue parse and if they didn’t have at least a blue parse in the raid and it wasn’t the first couple weeks to raid was out they just needed to put up 500 gold as a carry that they would get refunded if they pulled at least a blue parse in the raid. No gatekeeping happened but if you got banned for buying gold you got kicked out.

The gdkp’s i used to run with were similar anyone could attend and there were multiple runs for varying skill levels and if you were a fresh character and just wanted to buy you were also welcome.
Even if you didn’t have gold if you spoke to the guys who were organizing it and told them hey i don’t any gold but im keen to participate and buy once i do most of the time they’d help you get into some runs to get a few payouts.
Obviously afterwards you would be expected to buy some stuff even at minimum bid or whatever and if you just ghosted the runs after lying to them you’d just not get invited again.

Banning GDKP has made raiding and pugging a terrible experience for so many. I don’t want to sit in a 3.5 hour MC with no reward at the end when it could be done sub 1 hour with a payout. Let us decide the format we wan’t to play. No ones stopping anyone else from playing the way they want to play.

Join a guild that likes to play in a similar way. I’ve had zero issues doing BWL/MC back to back in sub 2 hours. Random trade chat pug is obviously going to suck.

what are you talking about? we do bwl AND mc in an hour and a half. We did ZG, MC AND BWL the other night in a little over 2 hours.
everyone has rank 14 gear the game is trivial.

I did, we clear BWL in under 40 mins. I’m talking about playing my alts. I want a flexible pug schedule. I can’t pug. The culture GDKP created with servers like Only Pugs is what I miss.

I’m not talking about my guild runs, I’m talking about pugging. Pugging without GDKPs is god awful. Everyone leaves before rag and can’t get past Firemaw. People leave after their SR doesn’t drop. I want to pug my alts in raids that aren’t terrible. 2019 was a way better experience. Won’t be playing TBC, I have 3 60’s and can’t stand to play more than 1 at this point.

LOOOOL you might be the most delusional person I’ve ever come across congrats.
So if I spend 3 hours clearing to rag cuz I need the loot off Rag and nothing else but because 10 people leave a long the way we can’t finish, I have no right to get upset? Makes sense. Only wasted 3 hours of my life. It’s happened several time and I’m done playing alts period because of it.
