An RPG without housing

Yea I mean this is my opinion. I even said what I would do with it if they did. Don’t need to get upset that someone doesn’t want player housing. Wildstar had one of the best player housing, but yes that didn’t work well.

It was stated somewhere, i can’t remember where though, that Blizzard had player housing in development for years and it just stayed in development hell.

Who knows, maybe they continue to iterate on it and eventually we will get true Player Housing done the Blizzard way. WoW is one of the VERY FEW MMO’s to not have proper player housing. There is always hope.

Ah, that’s good to hear. There is still hope!

I have a nice Garrison and a selection of inns to nap in, minus Goldshire

Goldshire is fine unless it’s an RP realm.

Depending on how they do it it’s always a possibility, especially on RP servers.

Other players might. ESO’s housing has storage, workstations for professions, a banker, and a vendor you can put in your home so people who have experience with that housing probably have at least a little bit of an expectation for getting something like that.

Housing has the potential to affect the “world feels alive” thing Blizzard has been pushing so I can see why they wouldn’t do it.

Also, for the record, I’m not saying they shouldn’t do it. I’m just saying I can see why they wouldn’t after some of the things they’ve been doing over the years.

sylvanas made me homeless.

Homeless, Factionless, and Purposeless, just the fantasy I grew to enjoy over the passing decade.

Ya, but the cookout was great

I don’t really care what other rpg’s do. WoW needs work, but it doesn’t need player housing.

To be fair, theres always a world ending threat or a destructive army on the move. I wouldnt want to have a house that I know is going to get destroyed either. Just ask the Darnassians…

I doubt they’ll ever do player housing since they failed with garrisons, sadly.

So, I’m all for player housing. Not sure it would work well in wow but growing up with ultima online I kinda have a soft spot for housing.

That being said, I do not understand this outlook of “what are we homeless?”… I mean rpg wise, the first final fantasy, you stayed in inns or popped a tent. It’s kinda the traveling hero trope, its fine.

We are in a fight for our very survival. There is no time to be lazing about. A campfire is our home! The land provides all we need and Grumbles bakes the cookies!

I’m surprised they haven’t made a joke quest in the spirit of this, where a naive real estate salesman allows you to rent one of his properties only for a succession of increasingly ridiculous events to result in its complete destruction.

I live in my Garrison.
And you can go around staying in INNs all over the place. RP wise.

I would accept we dont actually live anywhere and take everything we have with us or have it in the bank, as we are adventurers and our home is the World.

That said, I would not mind some real housing, even in the GW2 style, which is the same instance for everyone of a given race.

Why do we need a home when we get free lodging at every inn across the globe?

It isn’t like we spend time in one place for long. Hell, we touch every continent on a daily basis.

It depends if you RP or not.
If you do, that is not entirely accurate.

Yeah, man. Why would Blizzard want a piece of that “decorate your dwelling” player money? Let those other companies make bank from people who want to make a chair for their parlor online.

People running around gathering materials and then crafting furniture in the game would be so disruptive to the game! And random drops in raids of cosmetic trophies players can put in a house would wreck the game. There would be mass unsubbing over additional cosmetic rewards!

Can you imagine the mess we would have with people in every capital city just hanging out doing stuff to improve their apartment? A crowded city? What a disaster.
