This comment made by a certain Twitch streamer who definitely has inside information has been discussed (a lot) on Reddit but I haven’t seen it posted here. EDIT: I’m not advertising for a streamer like some are accusing me. This is a very short clip of our former CM.
Can you sum up? I do not want to give a streamer clicks based on nothing. Seriously, you can see how an OP like this appears to simply be free advertising for a streamer.
Yeah I was watching that live the other week. I think what he was generally saying was that Blizzard intends to change as little as possible. I still think we might see sharding and loot trading, and we are probably gonna see 1.12 rolled out. But I do not think we will see changes some people have been clamoring for that erode the fabric and idea of what Vanilla is.
Edit leaving my post intact, but apparently my lack of coffee crit me hard on this, I was focused on the comments in the twitch chat, when the thing I apparently was supposed to be paying attention to was apparently the former cm ythisens saying that the #nochangers "are going to win more than they think they are "(as it was his stream)
Falaryn saying July 8th…
#stopclickbait
No one else click on that clickbait garbage.
As for the merits… It’s not impossible, but I’d find it unlikely that close to a holiday…
As for the reputation of the poster, I remember absolutely nothing about him that would lend credence to him being an insider, and if anything, I feel like that was the name of a forum troll who’s primary reason for no longer posting here involves no longer being allowed to post here…
I’d probably just Thanos snap this thread from existence, if I where a mod.
Was the only person talking in the twitch streamers chat.
As for ythisens comment… I admittedly didn’t recognize him… So definitely egg on my face there… Not sure what was supposed to be so revolutionary from his no changing comment however… Especially considering the numerous changes we already know are happening just by tying the game to the Bnet launcher and using legion based architecture and /or running things in content buckets.
If the implication was that we’re running a pure 1.12 with absolutely no data changes I’d find it more lazy than anything… As it would ignore the 1.12 issues that aren’t all that hot… (threat generation, taunt mechanics, Xrealm bgs, av version etc)
If it referred to an attempt to emulate the patch cycle entirely that might be something… But seems unrealistic from a workload perspective.
The only other thing I can think of that might be authentic more than people expect is time limiting servers to a roughly 2 year period (and then either going to TBC classic or rerolling) . Which imo is a necessity for long term health of the game.
Not really sure what else it could possibly be to get so excited for.
My decision to do it that way was to attempt to avoid making a huge deal and calling a bunch of attention to the fact that the streamer who was formerly a community manager here said something that hints about the outcome of Classic’s final release. Little did I know that there would be That Guy who hates the idea of clicking on a Twitch link so much that he
can’t wait for the thread to unfold to see what’s in the link without clicking the link himself
proclaims his belief that anyone who posts a Twitch link must be doing so “just to get clicks for a streamer”.
In this case, I have to be honest about #2, though: normally I wouldn’t care about giving clicks to a streamer. But I do want to see Ythisens succeed at whatever he wants to do and if he wants to be a streamer, more power to him. I hope I’ve helped him out with a few more clicks to that short little clip.
That is all fine and good, but surely you can see how refusing to even give a brief summary of what it is about would look suspiciously like advertising for a streamer, no?
Perhaps I am just fed up with clickbait on the internet.
It galls me big-time that I’m being accused of it when I’m a longtime forum participant, not known for that behavior. If I posted a Twitch link having just joined and with 0 other posts, then sure, jump right down my throat. But maybe you’re a bit paranoid with people who’ve been here a long time.
Dude, it has nothing to do with forum seniority. It is simply the nature of an OP that amounts to “click this twitch stream”. That is why I requested the summary. Sheesh.
Yith has come off numerous times as to not telling “too” much, but just enough to keep us on our toes.
In the most recent Classicast today, he touched upon how he’d always make an effort to go see the Classic team. I’m not sure if that did any good though. He sounded like he was making lots of educated guesses.
But he did say that in a World of Warcraft meeting, with ALL teams, that everyone was really excited to play Classic since it’s the game either they made or one that got them into Blizzard. Everyone on the Classic team sounds hyped about getting it as close to 100% as they can. However they also understand that their average customer, someone who doesn’t come to the forum everyday, will expect perfection.
Server launches in 2004 apparently were far from perfect and they really don’t want the servers to crash. Hence the Sharding back up plan. And as Brokenwind’s discontent with streamers brings up a great point.
Remember when Swifty crashed a server?
Imagine that with Classic. Plenty of twitch streamers, some who have 10k-20k-30k regular viewers. What if that streamer plays on server A. Server A now needs to handle the load of the normal folks who chose server A and then the streamer and their entourage. So the server may crash or have super long queues. It leads to a negative experience for the person coming back.
As a business, that’s what they’re trying to avoid I think. Hopefully they’ll figure it out so they can avoid sharding. Try to take the DEMO information with logins/time spent and use that to make enough servers to lessen the day one server burning.
