An Apology

First quote- you’re intentionally leaving out context to apply my statement about specific jokes to a generalization that is disingenuous. Don’t do that.

Second. I’m actually right and you’re wrong.

well, that settles it.

do you rp a Scarlet Crusader by chance?

… d-don’t bring old moon guard into this

Rich coming from a death knight in Night Lords. Nothing against it, it’s just kinda the thing to be edgy there by definition lol

Dave Chappelle has a long history of poking fun of everyone from every sort of group, minorities included. I have yet to see anyone present any kind of evidence that he holds animosity towards these groups in his heart.

Please show me real-life instances of Dave Chappelle harboring malice towards minorities.

Probably the good soil i was raised out of

He might not have intent to do harm, but he does. You don’t actually care because you won’t see it but:

When people make fun of minority groups, even if they didn’t mean to do hard, OTHERS with the intent to do harm hear those jokes and feel empowered, emboldened and validated in their bigoted beliefs. Those folks often times then go off and be more racist, transphobic, queerphobic as a result.

While comedians can not mean to do harm, they are. They could just not make those jokes and instead advocate for those minority communities to help protect them and make sure their fan base knows it’s not cool to have bigoted beliefs.

Wanna know how many times I’ve had comedians skits used against me in a harmful way? It’s a lot. So no. It’s not funny and your defense of them in the same amount of my denouncements of them say more about you than about me being a massive troll.

This is anecdotal. Can you provide some substantive supporting evidence to support the claim that comedy bits make people more racist?

Free basing Robin diangelo is a hellova drug.

This is so funny to me LOL

I just asked for some proof. What’s wrong with that?

Is this the part where you claim ‘It’s common knowledge’ as an excuse to not expound upon your claims?

You got to this post you can use google.

it just kind of logically follows that while certainly some people are able to separate comedy from their beliefs, plenty of bigots will see comedy that is bigoted (even if intended otherwise) and think it’s other people agreeing/justifying their beliefs

like this is something that has happened to various parody subreddits who inevitably become exactly what they’re parodying, because they pretend to be stupid/bigoted so much (in a shortsighted attempt to mock those beliefs) that it just brings in the people who actually think those things and turns the community just into those people

there’s an example if you really need it

That’s not how it works. You made the claim, you provide the evidence. If you can’t be bothered to do it, then you’re either too lazy or just lying and hoping we’ll believe it.

And that friends is a big topic in itself. Action vs Intent. What it was meant to do, and what it actually does. They can certainly vary, and often times will not line up. I have never watched him also here is a research study.

Edit: I separated the link pieces with a space or two since it wont let me post it as one.

See- this is a common trumper tactic. “If you don’t give me evidence, I don’t believe it.” There’s evidence for you to go and research. I know the evidence. I don’t need to prove anything to you to know you’re wrong. You can keep living in ignorance, and I’ll know you’re wrong. That’s your problem.

That wasn’t the claim Gwyneth made. It’s one thing to have your beliefs reinforced, but Gwneth claimed that these bits can actually turn you into a racist.

I never said that lmao

please read the research study i sent and give thoughts
