Oh condemn away for the tastelessness that was in the imgur album, that I have no issue with. Its the assuming and generalizing of the possibility that it could be and jumping all over him for something that can only be assumed at this point is what gets me.
But again, I have no issue with condemning the content for what it is.
The meme is in the imgur album, and yes it is by the OP. It’s a racist meme that they deserve to be shamed for over and over again.

I can only speak for myself but I went “if this stuff in the capped chats are related to the OP whether it’s them typing it themselves or actively associating with these people, yeah shame on them and the ‘I have changed now’ doesn’t ring true for me yet because of how recent they seem to be”. Then went more broadly with it because some people are like “actually the ‘jokes’ and slurs are okay, I’m sorry you have a problem with it”.

All I can think about with this post is the whole Mr. Nelson- words are like bullets speech from South Park and it low key made me chuckle.
Change. I know that’s both very hard and easy to say because (1) passage of time needs to occur and (2) definitive change needs to happen in that passage of time.
I’m a straight CIS white dude so I can’t accept the apology because I’m not one of the people that would be hit by those slurs or behaviour. I can still CONDEMN the behaviour but I can’t accept the apology on behalf of them.
I could have also not posted in the thread at all but that also doesn’t sit right with me. Forum cabal jokes and all, I’d rather make noise about it not even to like farm but to make noise and have the attitude of “this wasn’t or isn’t right” on display just to maybe make dunderheads think twice about bringing similar behaviour to the community.

As a half black gay man, I can promise you this:
Their apology felt as empty and pointless to me as these people trying to defend OP, regardless if they actually meant their apology or not.
I’d rather they just go away and enjoy their time away from a community I’m part of, but I suppose that’s what it means to publicly apologize. You know, dealing with the consequences and accepting that not everyone will accept your apology.
