There was a time when sports were mostly neutral. I’m not watching a sport because I want to know how these people feel emotionally about things. I’m watching it for the sport and this is precisely why I won’t have anything to do with any of it.

If Phelps had an off day, he’s not going to drown.
If Bolt had a bad day, he might fall down and skin his knee.

The dozens of other gymnasts are doing just fine … Keri Strug landed a vault on one freaking leg. Kurt Angle won wrestling gold with a broken freaking neck !!
Simone backed out because she had mental problems. Continuing to play while feeling that way would just endanger herself and prevent her from playing at her best.
I don’t consider this to be a partisan issue. I think you have people who understand how crippling mental health issues (and just stress) can be, and then I think you have people who don’t

The dozens of other gymnasts are not regarded as the best in the sport.
They are able to compete … I put them above the so called best who quit .
