Sure, a gymnast’s struggle that arose in recent weeks is why China has spent the last decade investing massive resources into medal-dense fields and additional resources into winning gold in new fields specifically to deny the U.S. Olympic dominance as part of its massive, global, state-managed soft power campaign to portray itself as superior.

that’s why no one cares about Olympic these athletes only care about themselves and their views and not represent the country. They hate America plain and simple.
So our lack of focus on winning medals instead of all the outside stuff is not responsible for our sorry performance at the games ?

I don’t get it. The U.S. women lead in both gold and total medal count in gymnastics; China has the same medal profile as Brazil.
Is the argument that Biles’s withdrawal somehow demoralized the U.S. competitors in weightlifting, diving, and shooting? Because that’s where China farms a lot of its golds.

Biles is just a symptom of the overall new sporting culture in the US where instead of winning ,participation is now celebrated .
It’s no surprise that we are now losing at the world stage to countries where their main goal is winning.
I know these guys work really hard n all to compete at the olympics but I just can never make myself care lol.
