Curious that Americans are incensed about Simone Biles, but not about the fact that Russians are in the Olympics at all.
To me, that fact alone makes this entire Olympic event tainted and bogus.
ANd the ratings prove this right. These olympics are sad and I quit caring about them …
What’s wrong if the un doped Russians are there … contrary to some of the Americans they seem proud of their country and flag .
China’s gold medal standing is because their Olympic strategy is to focus on single events that nobody else cares about and hence be largely playing against smaller countries and people who haven’t had much funding behind them. They’re essentially pubstomping.
They also straight up ignore team sports because they suck at them and on the standings, winning gold in a team sport still only counts as one medal even if it’s a team with a dozen people on it.
Like, they got a surge in medals yesterday because a bunch of events concluded that pretty much had exclusively Chinese athletes in the finals.
Finally, the fields that the Chinese dominate are frontloaded on the Olympic schedule while the USA’s are more evenly spread. While they’re doing way better than they did in 2016 the fact that we’re about halfway through the games and they only have a couple more golds than the Americans and are still behind the Americans in total medals suggests that they’re going to fall short in these games as well barring a series of upsets in the next week of events.
The state represents all Russians.
The state sponsored the doping scheme.
All Russians should be banned. Don’t like it? Maybe they should take it up with their government.
The IOC seriously dropped the ball on this one.

Like shooting , table tennis , badminton , swimming , diving etc ? Ya no one cares about them 
Only thing Americans are now really better than them is track and field . Thanks to mainly African Americans .
The Americans have 6 swimming golds to China’s 3 and the same number of shooting golds. The reason they currently have more golds than the Americans is because they swept weightlifting and table tennis, both of which are finished for these games.
In swimming in particular, if you look at overall medals, China has acquired 5 medals while the USA has acquired 24 medals.
Typically we would be sweeping women gymnastics too but we have already lost 1 gold and if Biles does not compete , the 4 individual events next week are also up in the air.
China still has badminton where they will sweep everything ( 5 golds there )
I think it’s kind of weird that you’re presumably American yet seem to be cheering on China but you do you I guess.
I think we need to lose so that things are different the next time . Otherwise I see us going backwards every olympics. We have lost focus as a country , instead of concentrating on winning we are now distracted by a whole host of issues
yes well that annoys me more but that isn’t what this thread is about. that american sprinter couldn’t compete because they broke the rules. Russia broke the rules and couldn’t compete and they just change the name of their team and all is good.
