It would cost you the same thing if not cheaper to just fly into Achorage AK and you dont have to deal with customs. Late August through April is the best time to see it. I use to live there. Alaska has many tracking websites so you can time a flight properly.
Everyone thinks its expensive to fly to AK. It is to every city but Anchorage. Flying there is about as cheap as anywhere else in the lower 48 on that side of the country. As a side note you will get to see Alaska. win/win.
Here is some info that may help. No you don’t have to leave Anchorage. You can actually see the northern lights from Anchorage.
No eastern side of Canada where you are is NOT the same at all! Its MUCH MUCH more vibrant. Trust me coming from someone who has lived in Vermont and tried that. I have lived in 40 out of the 50 states. Use to have a mobile job that sent me all over the US.
If your going to see it. Fly to Anchorage and see it properly. ANother place in AK you may have more luck is Fairbanks AK. It will be even better there probably
I’ll take a look at it, my father in-laws, brother in law (that’s a mouthful) was just there for a medical convention and had a good time.
We where looking at Churchill so far Northwest from the major cities of Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto. Basically due North of Winnipeg.
Im really sorry! I should have suggested Fairbanks sooner I just wasnt thinking. Fairbanks is MUCH better because you have a darker sky and it last almost 24/7 during the right time of year. Fairbanks should have some decently priced flights also
I joke, but as Lilybugg mentioned, if you go a little north of LA (Ventura County) its a lot more managable.
Trying to get a second build up and running so I don’t have to bring my computer back and forth for a 2hour car ride twice a week.
Ball parking prices $450 used for ram/itx board/ 5800x3d or 5900x vs predicted prices of $750ish for the new platform build. (predicting the 7800x3d will be $450 launched).
Already have the case/psu/left over ssd ready. Going off of Hardware Jebus, looking at roughly 20-40 fps depending on the games.
If you are going AMD I would suggest either going with the 5600/x CPU and dumping the rest of your budget into the GPU as that will give you your best budget performance or if you have money to burn and/or a capable GPU then go for the 5800X3D. Unless you are playing one very specific game or need it for work reasons, I doubt you would see a real world gaming difference going with other AMD 5xxx series CPUs from the 5600/x until you hit the 5800X3D in your games.
Other misc things I already have are the case (Itx restriction) and sfx psu (Corsair SF750).
5800x3d will benefit a few of my game selection, WoW/SC2/other sims, not so much whenever I decide to play Bioshock and horizon zero dawn and the likes.
Though I guess if I drop the 5800x3d I can open up my options to intel side. 8700k is still very capable today and not much is gained between 8700k - 12xx0k on average.
I’d skip 8th gen. It’s still not too bad, I use one for my TV gaming system, but you can def. tell the difference between it and even my 10900K…I believe it’s the security fixes holding it back. Later gens aren’t nearly as affected.
