You are delusional if you think they wouldn’t. If the shoe were on the other foot they would pull this crap in a heartbeat pretty much any company would. It’s bad for the consumer but great for the company and companies make business decisions on what’s best for the company not what’s best for the consumer. It’s unfortunate but this is the way it is
Yes.
AMD knows especially in the gaming area not a lot of people have patience these days and their hope which appears to have paid off was to snag as many impatient people as possible who would jump all over their 7950x3D. Proof of this is because the 7900x3D is in stock pretty much everywhere while the 7950x3D is sold out.
I will be honest I don’t even know why they made the 7900x3D. That chip does not make any sense whatsoever at least on the 7950x3D you are on a 8 core cpu when gaming. On the 7900x3D you are on a 6 core. Which is actually worse than the 7800X3D. The 7900x3D shouldn’t exist
He probably realized the same thing I did. In gaming AMD does out of the box what Intel takes hours of OCing and testing to achieve. Now don’t get me wrong some people enjoy that type of tinkering I find it just to be a headache. No blue screens is good.
I am not a fan of either side these companies are not sports teams and they are not my friend. I simply buy from whatever company has the technology that makes the most sense and meets my needs at the current time of purchasing and right now? Thats AMD. Next time I go to buy a CPU it may be Intel.
Long story short? I really don’t care whether I buy from team red or team blue as long as one of them produces what I need.
Its silly to be a fanboy of either side. Like I said these companies are not sports teams. They are not your friends. Both would screw you over to make a buck in a heartbeat. Just buy from whatever side is making what suits your needs at the time of buying.
Why did I buy my Ryzen 9 7900x from AMD over Intel? When doing my build the 7000 series was brand new and had a CPU upgrade path to last at least to 2025. Intel didnt. So it was the more logical move
I have no choice. I do video editing as a side hobby. I need kuda cores. AMD sucks for that. Once they play as well with Adobe as Nvidia does? I will start looking at AMD GPUs
Unless we are talking about my team’s chances of making the playoffs this coming NFL season or a conversation with my wife, I don’t think I’m delusional. In fact, I never even brought up the topic you are discussing. My point was the lack of complaints about this AMD release not that Intel, Nvidia, and other companies don’t have their own sordid history of price & product gauging.
I worked for three fortune 500 companies and was in business development for one. I know their fiduciary responsibility to the stock holder. In fact I have could tell you plenty of stories.
I’m a fanboy of all sides. If you like Nvidia, you better be an AMD and Intel fan. If you like AMD CPUs, you better be a fan of Intel and Apple CPUs. Qualcomm wants to make desktop CPUs, fantastic lets get them the support they need in terms of OS and drivers.
Never understood these people who go scorched earth on the competition. You are literally stating you are a fan of high prices and marginal improvement.
You are literally repeating the point I was making lol. Their loyalties are with their stock holders not with us the consumer. Thats literally what I was saying. If I didnt explain my point better Im sorry
Look you seem to not understand any of my points. Drink some coffee and come back lol. What I meant when I said it shouldn’t exist is more “logically”. I get stock holders and why it exist. I was speaking totally from a “consumer” mindset. It should not exist and they should have released the 7950x3D and 7800x3d at the same time. I get why they didnt. We all know why they didn’t But they should have as in it was the right thing to do for consumers
Ill work on explaining what I mean more clearly in the future
c’mon Sal you need ray tracing. You don’t want to feel left out of all the lighting goodness. What’s that? AMD is coming out with better ray tracing performance you say?..Sal, have I told you about the double secret super deluxe ray tracing Nvidia cards offer? For only $1k you get an entry level card that can make flames flicker in the distance like a Shakira dance video and for only a 75% drop in frame rates. Remember Sal, the more you spend the more you save so get three cards.
companies make business decisions on what’s best for the company not what’s best for the consumer. I was more saying they SHOULD do what best for the consumer but sadly that will never happen. They do what best for them not us. That was my point
I’ve said that many times on this form and agree with you
They really can’t. Like I said they have a fiduciary responsibility, literally meaning they have a legal obligation to look out for the investors best interest. People can lose their job or even get sued if they fail to meet those obligations so they place pressure down the the corporate ladder to make sure other people are looking out for the best interest of the company.
At the end of the day we are talking about some price gauging for a hobby, it sucks but this is not Dupont and Perdue Pharma poising people, BoA and Wells Fargo kicking families out of their homes or Boeing 737 flight control issues. We can certainly open a very large can of “literally risking peoples lives in order to ever increase the stock price”.
