Well if intel Nvidia and AMD would band together they could make scalping video cards and processors illegal. But that would require a lot of effort that I don’t think they’re willing to put into it.
It was actually the Broadway corporation that made scalping tickets illegal. So they can make scalping tickets illegal they can most certainly make scalping video cards and other computer components illegal. I just think it’s more effort than these companies are willing to make.
If they were to actually pull this off eBay with automatically cancel all sales of overpriced video cards and processors AKA removing the funding source from scalpers
This is pretty much the case. They really don’t care who’s buying the cards. The fact that scalpers buy all their products within 30 seconds is record sales to them. Honestly our best bet at making this type of thing be made illegal would be the Press. You would have to get every reviewer and every press Outlet on board with making this type of thing illegal.
Then and only then would they even consider the idea of it. The only thing billionaire corporations respond to is their business being cast in the negative light
If a company has a choice between a complete sell-out within 30 seconds to scalpers and miners or consumers slowly buying their cards throughout the year? What do you really think they’re going to pick? This is a no-brainer for them.
I agree. Like Salhezar said they really don’t care who’s buying their product all they care about is the fact that they are selling out within seconds
Regardless of the fact that the common consumer gets screwed and every way. If you actually pay attention you can almost see as messed up as it sounds that this pandemic is the best thing that could have happened to tech companies they are doing record business.
There are just so many people working from home then there ever was before so now most households that were fine on one computer now need four of them. Computer sales has skyrocketed ever since the pandemic started
Jusus. I fact-checked this and realized it’s pretty much true except for the fact that AMD has made 3.2 billion; however maybe the numbers have gone up since you looked. I mean the year isn’t over yet.
I had no idea that the consumer Market what such a small portion of Intel’s business where it seems to be pretty much all of amd’s business
Well considering I build gaming rigs for a living that’s the only part of the company that I’ve ever kept informed on. I have no desire to take my research and work home with me so I’ve never looked into the company further
Intel can kiss the entire dektop and laptop sector and still be more profitable than AMD thanks to their almost monopoly in the data center industry. In fact, I personally would be investing far more resources into mobile, network and data than I would in the desktop and laptop sector if I was running Intel as well. I have a sneaky suspicion that as AMD battles Intel in the CPU sector, we will be talking about Qualcomm as the industry leader in a about a decade.
Yeah and what’s even more surprising is I got to Tinker with a Ryzen 9 5900x today and while it completely blows Intel out of the water in productivity? In gaming not so much. I tested a i9 10900k OC to 5.2 with a 4266mhz Ram kit vs a Ryzen 9 5900x with a 3800mhz CL15 kit. Both using the exact same graphics card. The Intel had more FPS on every single game I tested to my surprise except for one. CS Go. But most of the time led by 8-15 fps at most.
However when I put the 10900k on the same ram kit used on the 5900x? The 5900x beat it in almost every game. So this proves my earlier suspicions that I have stated and talked about before. It was just nice to finally test it out and actually factually confirm it. Basically the Intel 10900k OC to 5.2 will still beat AMD in gaming but only when using a faster Ram kit then it’s possible to use on AMD. Due to the infinity fabric design you can’t go over 3800mhz. So basically you have to give Intel an unfair advantage to have it beat the 5900x.
This also proves some stuff that Ragely said above. This is crazy.
And factor in that very very very few people are going to be using RAM faster than 3600mhz - the result is definitely still an outlier and the exception, not the rule.
