20 years of WoW MMORPG and it keeps going… without Barbie Housing thing.
What happened is Mounts are bloated, tmogs are now bloated. They need a new avenue of Collection… Housing parts would have gazillion stuffs to be collected.
I don’t like it. Have to complete max Renown just to get a new Bed or Sofa? Blizz should put more effort on bringing new games… add another game like Delves, add another game as addicting as Raid and Mythic+. Not this Sims Barbie game.
Good thing they can do both. Also collection is part of the game for many. You might not like housing but it is an important part of sandbox feel of an RPG, especially an MMO one.
I too do not care about player housing at all, as long as they are 100% optional not attached to player power at all, I will be happy for those that have always wanted player housing in game.
And yet one of the main reasons SWTOR keeps going is because of housing. Their playerbase is 11k according to the devs and a lot of that has to do with housing. Otherwise, that game would’ve been shut down ages ago.
Palia is doing decently well, even if it’s still in beta. And that one is housing forward.
When you want to find ways to keep people playing and bring in more, you add the things other MMORPGs have that keep people interested. This isn’t rocket science.
Probably more along the lines of a major trophy style deco.
Well that just tells me you have no idea how MMORPG housing goes. No point in a conversation if you’re just going to toss out this kind of junk.
Its not a feature i’m really jazzed about myself but people have been asking for it for years so I can see why they’re adding it. I do think its going to end up being a big nothingburger where it’ll get released and it won’t have all the bells and whistles people wanted who will then hate the feature and blizzard for the rest of forever and will never spare an opportunity to bring it up.
I didn’t care much for it until the most recent announcement, but if Blizzard can pull this off properly without completely ruining the content that actually matters (because this is what happened with WoD) I’ll be extremely optimistic about it.
I want housing-related cosmetics given retroactively for older Cutting Edge/AotC/KSM/M+ title/Gladiator achievements.
This is an extremely common sentiment in my experience, because of what the community has made of FFXIV’s housing. Myself, I spent two years closing out SHB and playing the release year of EW, and the reason I left was just having all I could get out of the game that exists between content drops: the social game that takes place in, guess what, housing. Which is to say that when I was done “gearing”, I stayed another year or so purely for the social stuff. There are entire swaths of players that get “all the killing stuff” over ASAP to get back to the housing-based social game, and that could very well happen in WoW.
With WoW parallelling XIV’s neighborhood model and taking out all the sting of XIV’s ATROCIOUS housing acquisition, an entire wing of gameplay opens up that will mean more to a whole swath of players than anything tied to progression in combat gameplay.
I’m not telling this to the person I quoted, they clearly know that, but addressing the premise of the OP:
I’ve had a house in game with Fallout and Runescape, and have a baby garrison in wow.
The new housing looks very generic and Disney to me and not exciting, but the novelty wore off a while ago with these types of things. I’d like to grow crops and if that’s an option, would be good.
That being said, it’s not really for me then and whoever is happy for player housing, good for them, and as long as doesn’t affect my gaming experience, I’m fine with it.
Not alone, I don’t want it either. I would rather have new zones, ie Farahlon Plains in Draenor completed, new stories and quests. Bug fixes like titles being re-earned on login and auto loot not auto looting, zone lag during a world boss or theater event, etc.
That’s a dead MMO. You never compare WoW to a dead MMO. I played that WoW wannabe game when it was born. Now, it’s freaking dead, dead, dead. The reason you are here is one reason it’s DEAD.
Palia cant compete with WoW juggernaut.
I understand to aim to get more players but I don’t think a Barbie SIMS game is the answer.
My issue is putting resources to something away from current game pillar. If they want to showcase player’s achievement, they could just improve player’s profile in the internet by putting awesome designs.
For me its a GREAT end season thing to do if there is a lot of stuff to do with it. like this season for example November till next season which is end of February we have nothing to do on our mains and a lot of ppl dont do anything after killing last boss mythic or they get exhausted and need a break. so this housing is a GREAT way to take ur mind off if again it has a lot of stuff to do
I don’t care about it right now but i hope it brings in players who are into it. I might actually get into it when it’s implemented as well. I did have some fun with my garrison.
