Excellent work moving the goalposts here.
You should switch to Action RPGs, you would love em. Games like Path of Exile, Diablo, Grim Dark.
My question is not moving the goal posts, you forum regulars love to just throw buzz words that you really donāt understand what they mean.
The person Iām responding to is your typical, this is their only video game, or MMO they have ever played. So, yah, Iām not surprised they would hate housing, because they never got to experience it.
Housing was a core feature of all the MMOs that came before WoW, and it is present in just about every MMO on the market, because MMO players love it.
Blizzard had a working housing system in alpha for WoW, but they never pursued it due to techincal limitations of the engine.
There is a very heavy bias on this forum, that likes to paint any activity or content outside of competitive endgame as worthless content.
The truth is, that mindset is actually a very small minority of players that havenāt expanded beyond WoW, or this obsession with endgame.
MMOs are huge games that have all kinds of different content. Maybe just accept that this isnāt content for you and move on to another thread? I think you have made your point pretty clear.
Yup i love Diablo. I was on Diablo 4 before i came back for TWW. Action packed game especially Uber Lilith.
Mythic+ is action packed. Heroic and Mythic Raid which I used to do in WoW is action packed.
PvP whether if its just Battlegrounds or Arena, it action packed.
Housing?!? Whereās the Action?
At least Delves Tier 11 and Zekvir?? has some action.
Then you donāt want an MMORPG, you want an ARPG. Different genres but an MMORPG with an open world usually has player housing and transmog because that is end game for people. To deck out their stuff to show off. Not endless dungeons.
i actually agree with you. traditionally speaking, you are absolutely correct. wow changed that when it created mythic+. i have no experience with old wow. i started maybe two weeks before wow prepatch. i do think that now, there is a much larger portion of the playerbase than you perhaps think there is that wants the game to move more in an arpg direction. not completely, obviously, because we still have the trinity, and we are completely focused around group content.
Hope Blizz read all my post concerning this.
Garrisons had an issue before. Blizz has concerns on it. Cities became ghost town as you wont see players as players were all inside their own garrison. They have to address this.
I dont like to see furniture, chairs, picture frames on Auction House.
What will happen to the Bank if All character stuffs would be on Housing?
Blizz has to make sure that they keep making new dungeons, new raid, new maps. Not having an Expansion with Housing as the only new content. Like the freaking Selfie patch.
The game should still focus more on Dungeons, Raid and PvP. Not much on housing. Housing should not be a main game if they are included.
First of all, āforum regular?ā You have 4x more posts than me. Pot meet kettle.
Second, the issue here is youāre gatekeeping the MMO experience. This game has millions of players, with millions of ideas what an MMO means to them. For some, housing isnāt part of that experience. How many? Who knows?
Iāve played three MMOs: EQ (hated it), Shadowbane (loved it), WoW (loved it). Housing didnāt exist in any of them. (I understand that EQ has it now.) I donāt think player housing is one of the defining characteristics of an MMO.
We get it. You want housing. Iām happy for you.
Put yourself in my shoes. I couldnāt care less about it. Theyāve chosen to devote some number of dev cycles to this feature. Cycle that I feel would be better spent elsewhere.
Youāre winning. Iām not. That should be the end of it. I donāt understand why you need to try to educate someone on their personal likes and dislikes.
WoW the MMO has Raiding already before Diablo 3 was born that was named as ARPG. Diablo and Diablo 2 were not named as ARPG then.
Completely disagree here. The vast majority of WoW players donāt do any of the hard content in the game.
This is why they are making changes to the core game, because the M+ and the raid logger crowd is not generating the revenue and the player retention they want to see from the game. PVP is even worse, PVP is just dead at the moment due to the class kit bloat added to the game for the sake of the M+ crowd.
Iāve listened to a ton of interviews with Holly Longdale, and she has been pushing the entire WoW team to get away from this obsession with just pushing players into a narrow set of content.
This is why theyāre adding systems like housing, delves and now focusing on more RP elements, which was talked about in the developer letter.
Like I said above, there is a very vocal minority of competitive players that grossly overexaggerate their play style as the norm when it comes to the player base. Most MMO players are just casual players, and they love content like housing that gives players an avenue to get creative.
Wow was never named an ARPG either, it was always an MMORPG and housing was supposed to be in the game but pushed back. And ARPg was created as a term before Diablo but Diablo still always were ARPGs, or looter rpgs.
Also, while raiding is fun, isnāt what makes an MMORPG stand out. It is the living world that changed over time. I know youāre just part of the action only aspect of the game and doesnāt bother with world stuff but the world stuff is very important for mmos.
exact feeling as me. but im glad people who wanted it are getting it. for me it wont change a thing.
i just hope they dont forget to actually improve the other parts of the game, like fixing the massive annoying bugsā¦
Obviously enjoy what you enjoy out of the game but you canāt discredit the game for being a video game to dismiss the story as an important aspect of it. It is an RPG. The story is a massive part of it. Youāre not alone though. Thereās a huge population that just play wow for the mechanical aspect of the game rather than the storytelling. Personally, Iām here for both. But Iām a bit of a D&D nut.
I love Pacman. Itās a videogame. It doesnt need to have a story.
And so are the dungeons and raid. Just kill all the monsters and get all the loot. Like Molten Core or BRD. No story needed. Itās a game.
Do you know how many people could care less about what you care about? No one cares. NOT ONE.
MANY people are excited for housing and there is not a single reason for you to make it negative other than for ATTENTION.
Get over it and let people have something they wanted without people like YOU ruining it. Thank you.
I love Tetris. But I also love Cuphead, Celeste, BG3, and WoW. All of which take the player on a story. Yeah The game aspect of it comes from taking part in controlling the actions of the characters in the story but in an RPG thatās a pretty core functionality of it. Itās not to be dismissed.
Pvp in wow is a good example of playing the game completely separate from the story. I find that I have a greater fondness for my characters and the state of the game if the story is compelling. This is part of the reason why shadowlands was terrible and the war within is a lot better received.
Again you can just play the game however you like but āitās a gameā absolutely does not make sense in this context. This game is heavily influenced by story.
Please lord do not let this lady in my neighborhood. The vibes are so bad.
i do. lol.
y r u mad
i just dont know if i believe this. neither of us really has any way to prove it. we would need player numbers, which we cant get. mythic+ is traceable. we know how many poeple are doing it, and how often they are doing it. we dont know how many people are logging in to do open world content. an interesting thing to consider here is that the wow developers are extremely interested in engagement metrics. they obviously care about subscriptions, but it seems like they care just as much about engagement. engagement equals retention, etc. how many hours do you reasonably see someone putting into housing in the span of a season?
Emphasis on the āto meā. Unfortunately for you, Blizz who own this game - believe that it is WoW.
If you donāt like it, vote with your wallet. Noones asking you to make a house and noones forcing you to partake.
