well…its annoying to see this every topic is FFXIV beat WoW related on here. We get ya, SL wasn’t good. But what I keep seeing here is some of toxic fans on here are just keep kicking WoW down and not allowing to WoW to get back up.
It’s only being compared because FFXIV allegedly has more players than WoW does now. It’s amusing as FFXIV is extremely different from WoW. FFXIV doesn’t focus on group endgame content. It’s there, but the meat and potatoes is playing through a largely single player story in an MMORPG backdrop.
I’d say FFXIV is more similar to classic WoW than retail WoW.

And that’s pretending like the bar wasn’t already super low to begin with, all anyone needs to do is have a game that’s new and it’s better than WoW no matter how bad it is.

Thank you for your honesty unlike the others.
It’s because these folks have never played it extensively yet so they don’t know the limitations of the game yet, but they do know WoW’s limitations very well. So it will never be a “fair” comparison until they play 14 extensively enough to see its issues as well.
In reality the games appeal primarily to different “types” of MMO players. There probably were, and are, people who were/are playing WoW who would be better off in 14. Folks who like story-based games, folks who like the Asian aesthetic for games and the like. And that’s fine, but what is happening now is that a lot of people are just seeing “new” and “shiny” and don’t know the issues yet because they haven’t played it enough to see them yet.
Whilst the examples I gave were subjective, the game itself and it’s entirety is objectively better.

You are exactly right, I also believe this is the case. FFXIV is probably better for the ‘casual’ audience that just likes story and collecting a mount or two, WoW is better if you want full on MMO world with gearing with all sorts of crazy effects that matter for pvp, world content and pve in far greater amounts but requires more time investment.
