AM I OoL? I don't use it, or have the means

Hello, just saw the update for the Authentication change that’s coming. I don’t use the app, and honestly find it more annoying than anything. I don’t have a Cell Phone at the moment,

In WoW? I’m not aware of any changes with regard to the authenticator or its use.

Well, if you don’t use it, then you certainly wouldn’t have any reason to find it “annoying”. It’s not at all annoying in my opinion and helps to protect my account which is something I find assuring.

An authenticator is not at all required at the moment for WoW. Nor is owning a cell phone.

They might be referring to the stand-alone app retiring. However, any key fobs will still work with the system. People just need to be aware that the key fob has a very limited battery life and could stop working at any time.

It doesn’t appear that you are using any form of the Authenticator currently (based on lack of the Core Hound battle pet), so the change to the stand-alone Authenticator app will not affect how you currently log in to the game.

While it is recommended to have an Authenticator for account security, it is not currently required in order to play the game.

The changeover from one authenticator app (which you don’t use) to another (which you won’t use) will not affect you at all. Your account will remain as insecure as it is now.

If you don’t use the app then this change doesn’t impact you at all.

The Authenticator is relatively unobtrusive, especially if you turn off the option “Always require authenticator for login”. You should rarely be prompted to use it, and usually only if there is a change in your access.

It is the single best way to protect your Battle.net account.

And one of the more important but not much discussed use cases: it will tell you if someone other than you is trying to access your account without your knowlege, as long as they’re doing it from a network location you haven’t used before.

It warns you someone knows your userID and password and allows you to stop them from gaining access and take action to secure your account.

I’m just waiting to see if, once the old authenticator app is turned off, my second Bnet account will be able to use the new app to authenticate. All signs point to “no” since I don’t have a second phone and phone number, but the old authenticator wasn’t supposed to do both either and it did, so…

We’ll see, I guess.
