Am I getting the FPS I should be with my set up?

maybe. He really needs to come back and let us know the exact settings and monitor resolution. Is “what I remember” translate to last week or last expansion? Those numbers may be what to expect in a raid at 1440p max settings. At 1080p and mid settings, yeah there is a problem.

Like we were just discussing you are on Intel and that would definitely do it!

Also check to make sure Ray tracing is disabled under your graphic settings you absolutely do not want it on your GPU

you have anything else running in the background that would hog cores?

It’s absolutely turned off. I know that for certain and I’ve turned about everything down to min for raid following those guides for optimization for fps. Fingers crossed it’s a lot better tonight.

Was perfectly fine for dragonflight. TWW seems to be terrible thus far

Oh dude just due to my testing with ram speeds and Intel alone I can tell you first hand that mistakenly turning off your XMP would destroy your FPS in group content

I’m pretty confident that’s what it was but please reply back with you results tonight and maybe we’ll sure that XMP is enabled before you do your testing

hmm

i am not seeing any meaningful change going from the two. IIRC JDEC is 2133?

if XMP is off though that’s a big hit to not just timings but frequency. turn that on

It was disabled. Cant remember if it was ever turned on but I know I had the proper timings and frequency when I built it. No idea when it got changed.

XMP is turned on now

There would be a drastic difference between 2100mHz and 3600 MHz in group content.

It wouldn’t be as noticeable outside of group content but the moment you step in to anything with a lot of people your FPS will plummet on the 2100 MHz that is a huge hit

Report back to us in this thread once you’re able to get in game and confirm the turning on your XMP was the fix

If you recently did a bios update it would disable your XMP just remember when you update your bios you also clear your CMOS. So most settings will be reset to their default

It’s annoying as hell on my 7950x3d there’s a bunch of stuff I have to change in my BIOS after a bios update re-enabling Expo is just the tip of the iceberg.

I have a similar setup and have a similar issue to what people report. I play a ton of other games and its really just WoW this raid.

Anything under 20 man is pretty decent, but raids with 25+ and its BAD.

I have seen stuff about “models” in addons causing problems, i think it got them all out.

OPs XMP was disabled. Pretty sure thats the issue. He will report back after he logs in

Thanks for all your tips. Mine also got disabled somehow.

I also found it helpful to clean the CPU fans / Ram heatsinks and crank up the fans.

I knew it helped, but had no idea it was that impactful.
Im totally going to follow your suggestions on the next upgrade and get 7200mhz.

any suggestions on gear?

Glad I could help another person!

Oh its HUGE in WoW. Its is MUCH more noticeable in wow than other games though because WoW is a CPU/Ram intensive Game. That may be why you didn’t notice so much in your other games and it seemed to just be wow. You are GPU limited in those.

You must have done a Bios Update intel has been pushing mobo manufacturers to go full steam on Bios Updates lately to fix 13th and 14th gen microcodes. So even if you are not on 13th or 14th gen you still probably got a bios update. Remember after every single Bios update reenable XMP

really should not be changing if you are not playing around with settings/hardware. Maybe a bad or loose CMOS battery. If it keeps happening try to manually set the RAM XMP specs.

a 40% drop in RAM frequency would definitely impact gaming

Intel has been pushing ALL mobo manufacturers to go full steam on Bios Updates lately to fix 13th and 14th gen microcodes. So even if they are NOT on 13th or 14th gen they are the same socket so they still probably got a bios update. Especially if they are both on prebuilts their software would automatically update the bios with the windows updates

UPDATE:
Just checked with some folks on my friends list in wow and it was happening them them too. One was on 12th gen and the other was 13th Gen. Yep They both had bios updates and their XMP was Disabled after the Update also! Their FPS in M+ tanked recently they didnt know why.

BOTH of them have now confirmed turning back on his XMP fixed his recent issues. They are both VERY Happy now! One of them was like “dude I thought my computer was on its last leg or something and getting ready to take a :poop:! You fixed my issues!” Needless to say hes happy too.

yep, Sal (Eryet) and I discussed it a bit in his “Intel Circling the drain” thread. The Ultra line is not what at home desktop/gamers wanted.

Check out a MAJOR flop of a mistake Intel made at 5:00 min into the video. NOT READY for launch part of the video its just a major WTF intel? :man_facepalming: It really really saddened me. Because I have always liked intel CPUs

Its a LONG list of things that just 100% confirms they were NOT ready but they are MAJOR :man_facepalming: moments including WRONG slides they released to the public about the CPU Chipset specs. Its like there are NO Quality Assurance or Proofreaders left over there! :skull:

A substantial number of BIOS updates were needed to achieve the performance figures we’re about to present, so it’s fair to say the Arrow Lake review process has been far from smooth.

TPU mentioned unclear settings in the BIOS so I guess that’s what they meant.

I like intel, I like having an iGPU in my PC in case there are issues with the GPU. Over the years Ive used both Intel and AMD based on value of performance so I want both of them to offer good products. I don’t think these Ultra CPUs are worth the price Intel wants and their performance for everyday at home PC is lacking. Glad they got power demands and temps down across the line compared to previous line ups.
