God I hope they buff the other covenants. Because if it was just a case of 1-2% behind, Id be ok with going with what ever. However… as it stands the gap between Night Fae and others can be as big as 3-7% dps loss. That’s substantial imo.
Even some of my more casual player friends wont take the loss for what they “think” they should take, but instead as human nature would have it, take the better performing ability.
Leveled my Druid First, naturally went Night Fae as he multispecs
Then I leveled my Mage… ok, he should go Night Fae…
Then I leveled my Warlock… so he should to go Night Fae. WTF a Fae warlock?
Just finished my Hunter… oh…Night Fae…again… why am I not surprised.
I believe it’s just that the previous nerfs have done in the covenant abilities to where they cant compete. For example… Night Fae on my Hunter does more damage on single target than even the other single target covenant ability… That boggles my mind.
Sure I could just say hey… lets go with the best transmog… but transmog wont be so cool when I’m hanging out just somewhere above the tank in damage and if we by chance wipe at a 1-2% you better believe id wish I had that Night fae extra 4% damage… but hey, I “look” cool.
So after dinging 60 just now on the hunter. The hard question has come down to, not so much the question of do i want to go night Fae, it’s about can I convince myself to take the loss to not go night Fae. So far, it’s been Night Fae and again and again.
For most classes where the ability itself isn’t head and shoulders above everything else, Soulshape and Niya are stronger than pretty much anything any other Covenant has to offer.
Remember when every DK was going to be Night Fae, too? Good times. I feel like Covenant class diversity is actually pretty good overall & I’m happy with it’s implementation. Even in pvp, unbalanced as it is, there’s a good amount of Diversity with a few exceptions.
“BIS” has become as meaningless and misused an expression as “meta” did a few years ago.
FWIW, I went Night Fae because the zone’s pretty (and especially because the zone is not Maldraxxus eucccch). Never thought about my “slot” and what I should put in it.
Range reduced to 35 yrds. Deliberate restrictions in queued content removing the ability to use it on any movement involving a y-axis or slight gap.
(For example you can’t even use it to get upto the gy in WSG, or from the graveyard to the top. Movements which similar abilities like Heroic Leap have been able to use for years)
It’s now an utter garbage ability that you would only really use if your class simply didn’t have other movement abilities.
eeh he said Venthyr or bust because of the teleport. Go back and look at his first video. It’s very clear, the teleport is the make or break for him. Going as far to say that they might have to take it out of the game.
You used to be able to traverse spaces that you physically couldn’t traverse without it, that is why it was broken.
Those lack of pathing restrictions were removed making it far less useable.
Hard agree.
I definitely agree Phial outside of some ridiculously contrived situation involving bleeds and poisons.
But Fleshcraft I feel is kind of on par, at least from the perspective of a Shaman.
There is almost no situation I’d rather use Door instead of just Ghost Wolf or something.
It would definitely be different for a Lock, Pally, Priest or DK. But just walking almost feels like an equivalent option in a lot of situations lol.
This wasn’t in his explanation of why he considered it broken. he said in a raid boss fight, the mobility that the teleport gave was too good. Most boss fights are on pretty flat surfaces/arenas. There are very few that aren’t. The cast time was unchanged, you can run to the area before the cast is finished. We all saw how it worked in a combat scenario. I called Timbae and the Preachers out on it, it wasn’t that useful in raids.
