Alterac Valley in Classic

Cool, so AV 1.5 in CP3 and 1.12 in CP6? We agree?

I actually don’t care what players back then thought of the changes I care what I think of the changes. I don’t like them. If enough people think that way and advocate for a different version right now that’s what matters.

I always wonder if Blizzard actually thinks less of the Private Server based arguments or not.

This proves that you are only here to be a divisive troll.

So if enough people come onto these forums demanding flying mounts, Blizzard should grant that request?

I’d reword that if I were you. I know you didn’t mean it like that, but people can easily twist your words like that.

Heck folks could come on here and demand that we have 1.1 talents throughout and most classes would be broken.

I guess coming from someone that’s so good at twisting words that’s good advice. Also we’re past the point of content changes outside of the scope of vanilla are not happening. and if enough people wanted 1.4 talents that’s what we should go with. But that’s not the case.

No, its a genuine question.

You claim authority on what’s “better” yet, don’t care about the opinions of people who played the game when it was current content. Therefore your experiences must have been derived from a later source aka Private Servers.

If you consider that to be some sort of “trolling”, that’s your problem. I didn’t agree with Private Server logic and didn’t play them, but it was part of the push for Blizzard to reclaim its IP so I can’t say they were not instrumental. Players on private servers are part of where we got today.

I just wonder about the internal team’s feelings on their stances since Blizzard has shown that things like the Warlock summon and the private server vehemence that it was wrong, can drive the game to an inauthentic result.

Evidence of what? We are living proof of dislike of the changes made to AV over the course of vanilla. you cannot find posts of people from 2005? WE’RE RIGHT HERE TELLING YOU that the changes were bad.

You’ve provided a fundamental misunderstanding of the word “foundation”. You have no “argument”, you are providing a wet towel to stifle actual conversation, you’ve added nothing of value whatsoever to the discussion. You’ve all but posting thinly veiled gloating time after time after time.

Contradict does not equate to void. Again if you actually believed that everything is set in stone, you and her would not be permanent residents in here attempting to shut down discussion. And then you have the nerve to act like you’ve been attacked.

I never claimed better I claimed its more content. That’s a fact. I said in my opinion more content is better than less. But that’s not a statement of fact. I disagree that thinking 1.5 AV has anything to do with private servers since ive never used one and I hold that view. Sure a lot of people that played on private servers might hold that view but thats the same as the whole only retail players want crbg argument your against.

Which aligns with Brack’s interview statements.

I guess we who played through the entirety of vanilla and are telling you directly that the changes sucked, simply don’t count, right?

“More content” in that there are more creatures? Maybe I’m just conflating yoru reason with every other poster then. If you’ve never been in an AV 1.5 why do you prefer it? On what basis?

Your pal Lunni who never played early AV is literally arguing against those who did.

More creatures, more areas of the map more items since they are taking away night elf heads for example which is both game content and rp content taken away. I also never played 1.5 av. I would also add that its the version thats most different content and map wise to the version ive played so that adds an element of adventure and add to my experience so in my opinion makes it better.

Same question to you as “your pal” Robfried:

  • Did you play AV 1.5 in Vanilla?
  • Did you play AV 1.5 in Private Severs?
  • And if no to both, on what basis can you say that is AV 1.5 the “better” AV?

It does count. Lots of things sucked in vanilla. Doesn’t mean we need to go change them.

Go to the general forums. Lots of folks there who played vanilla will tell you a whole lot of things sucked.

Why do we need to change things because they sucked? We’re not trying to create the perfect version of vanilla here. We’re just trying to recreate actual vanilla. Which has 1.12 at the end of the road for phase six.

As someone who played AV 1.5 as Horde on an Alliance dominant server, I can tell you… it sucked. Playing for 6 hours only to have to go to work, come back after work find that the same game is still going, rejoin, and then lose after another 6 hours simply because your faction stopped getting new players joining, until you lost because you were down to 15 on your team…

1.12 wasn’t the fastest of games, but at least there was more likelihood of a win due to gameplay, not RL attrition .

If early AV was so good. Why did they change it? Did they give any reason why they were changing it?

Surely they wouldn’t have just changed it overnight for no reason right?

Why did they change it? Why did they change 1.5 AV? You played back then. I don’t know why they changed it, so that is a genuine question.

I get why you want the other version. That’s why I’m open to some sort of compromise where they do events for an earlier av or something. That way as a museum piece people can go back and experience the old war story’s part if av and they can get in a quicker bg if they want its a win win compromise.

If all the changes to wow over the years were so good then why are people asking for classic? If the changes to av were so good then why are so many people saying they would rather have an earlier version?

See! That I can get onboard with. A “PVP Weekend” where they run an AV1.5 optional queue sometimes, would totally be something that could get people interested.

A permanent option would split the already small server playerbase. We never saw more than 2-3 AV’s at a time on a server, and usually only 1-2, because people would cycle through for a few hours). But “Hey this weekend you can play AV 1.5”, totally down for.

And I know the “Convenience Patrol” will be jumping all over my previous post soon as they see it, but my main reason for 1.12 is the consistency, not because AV 1.5 was bad without a 10k player population.
