Some do. I agree. As do I. But not enough for me to complain or cry foul.
Whatever they need to do with AV, based on their data/knowledge/tech limits etc… is what they have to do.
Any wants or feelings I have can be easily set aside and replaced with gratitude and understanding.
Because Classic is coming. They gave it to us. Continuing to gripe about an element of Classic that isn’t what I want , would be sad and undignified.
So I don’t. I say thank-you, Blizz. Thank you for giving us what we’ve wanted for some time. W/e version of AV -a minuscule component of the overall Classic experience- you need to use to justify creating Classic, is just fine. For alot of us. We may not all be on the forums, but we’re here, promise.

Of course - I am not one of these guys that thinks the developers are out to undermine their players. They are doing a great job and they are listening to their players (which is why some are posting on this).
Just feel strongly about AV - it will be my main end game unless it turns into a pve race.

I take it you never played the original 1.5 AV? Check out the other posts on the classic forum or read this thread. It really isn’t hard to see why we do NOT want 1.12.
But be careful what you wish for.

Being given a watered-down, zerg-prone version of AV will not stop me playing classic, however it is deeply disappointing. The way the announcement was made, the language used in the message, only added to the disappointment and made many think twice about the team working on classic.
AV was an integral part of vanilla and has always been one of the top 3 topics that comes up whenever vanilla players get together to reminisce (in my experience). Which is why the decision to use the later, weaker, less iconic version of AV is quite baffling.
I very much hope that the attention that this topic has garnered since the announcement will prompt a rethink by the Classic team.
Classic is really the only game that I am interested in playing at the moment. My interest in other new MMOs in development was waned with this announcement and it is looking to, once again, be the game I play for many years.
I haven’t done an AV in a couple of years so I was very much looking forward to spending quite a large chunk of my time in that wintery wonderland. With this planned iteration, I’ll play a couple of times and hope that it has more substance than the endless zerg that initially turned me away from the BG after all these changes had been made.
So this decision won’t stop me playing Classic, but it may affect the longevity of my play - which I had hoped would be years in length.

Just telling us 1.12 av is pointless. We need to know what the honor system is like and if there is xrealms. Old versions of av don’t work with xrealms and a honor system built around winning bgs(or afk losing bgs) and marks of honor. 1.12 av doesn’t make sense with isolated server communites and a system built around farming players. Please make a broader post about pvp as a whole. I would prefer and older version of av and the honor system without xrealms but thats just my opinion. Lots of other people liked xrealms and 1.12 av worked in that system. It wasn’t fun, but it worked. Either way we need to talk about pvp as a whole and not just this piece of it because its all interconnected.

In that it let people grind honor, marks, and rep quickly which is what it had been changed to accomodate.
Well, more than likely this is my last post for a very long time. I can already see the writing on the wall with Classic and Classic AV. Along with other issues I have with the game.
So I bought and downloaded the FF14 Xpac Stormblood last night. Yea I am about 3 years behind in that xpac, but atleast I have something to do. My one and only last break was in WoD.
Depending on the next xpac I might be back. My sub doesn’t expire until April 6th, but no sense in torturing myself in staying until then.
Be good and keep fighting for what you think is right.

Point is, Classic for most people was the grind, 1.12 is basically current AV and not a ‘grind’ oriented BG, it also undermines the ‘epic’ BG it’s supposed to be. I do agree that the earlier versions where to long but they could easily pick the Korran 2hr spawn so you know after 2hr’s the win is based off of turn in more or less.

Cross Realm Battlegrounds have really huge negative impact on European servers. I just want to raise my opinion here as if Blizzard will use 1.12 version it is more likely cross realms will be included.
Facing with Russians, Germans and French groups who make groups with voice communication on their mother tongue with random European groups which many of them either can not speak English language or using English language as a 3rd, 4th language is giving a huge disadvantage and should be handled with care.
Just the sake of shortening queue times to give a faction disadvantage from the start is not the right way to go. Also, many people who will play Classic, liked the hard way to achieve things. Anything making the game easier led to current retail version, my vote is for the earlier version of AV, thanks.

Too many languages in such a relative small area of the globe is a problem that has no simple solution.
I’ll take “The U.S. and Illegal immigration” for 500.
That already existed in 1.12. What happened to #nochanges?

#nochanges was never “no changes from patch 1.12.” If they had had cross-realm Battlegrounds when the game launched in 2004 and took them out in patch 2.1, you’d have a point rather than a lame attempt at a gotcha.

You could have the simple version of AV as well as the classic complete one both put into the queue.
